I got a neg for posting the "Binders of Women" photofest in the Hangout (which eventually got moved here)...with the neg comment from an Admin 'you should know better", so felt I should learn my lesson and post this here....since I felt compelled to call out our our civilian leaders. If an Admin disagrees, please move this to the Hangout.
What was wrong with that? It was more of a meme than a political thing. Plus it was hilarious. Also thanks vets, y'all good peoples.
Yes. "Always", as in, "Always a Marine". You don't hear people saying Semper Fidelis unless they are boots. Actually, to be honest, you don't hear Marines saying Semper Fi unless they are out. Generally, the greeting of the day is usually 'Rah'.
The lack of commemorative threads about our diplomatic corps? Also wondering why they were never just an extra infantry division in the Army.
yep, the more things change the more they stay the same. cheers pouhe, You can't stick the Marines with us Regular Army guys; they scare us. j/k An elite corps somewhat requires a completely separate chain of command. Plus, the whole amphibious assault thing requires them to bunk up with Navy weirdos, anyhow.
First off I can tell you that, while I respect the Army because they are a branch of the military, and they do put their lives at risk, generally my experience with them has been less than stellar. Firing off MK-19 rounds into the sides of mountains and coming over the net claiming it was a 'test fire' to ensure their weapons would fire just in case, holding up convoys because they cant find all their passengers, smoking cigarettes at night time sitting on top of trucks, being overweight and looking disgusting in uniform, losing weapons, not maintaining fields of fire discipline, Wild West blasting away at areas instead of aiming in and putting rounds on point, to name a few things... Any of these things would have gotten me into some **** had I done them. Not all are like this, I have met men in the army who were very good at their job (Army RCP for example), but by and large that's usually what I saw when I worked with them. I do appreciate the Army though.
Good stuff all around, hadn't grasped there was elite or special training and always assumed amphibious just referred to transport rather than assault. Please forgive the smarminess before as I'd rather not have my clock stopped.
