I'm dubious without Jodi Foster. The book ended with Clarice joining Lecter and Foster just couldn't do it. After testing the movie, they found the audience couldn't either. [IMG]

I like Julianne Moore, but she'll have a tough time filling Foster's shoes. She was awesome in Silence.

    don't know...

I actually loved the book and totally bought Clarice going off with Lecter.

I am very excited about the movie!

Well, I'm seeing both today, and you can check http://movies.swirve.com later to see what I thought!

I hated the book, but there's something about the trailers that sent chills up and down my spine, so I'm looking forward to it.

As for the whole Jodie Foster/Julliane Moore thing, it's no different than having different James Bonds. I don't think it will effect how good the movie is in any way.

You're kidding, right? Whether Bond is played by Sean Connery, Roger Moore, or friggin' Timothy Dalton has no effect on you?!? You think it has no effect on the movie?

Uggg, I just had a really terrible thought in my head of Timothy Dalton in Goldfinger. I think I just wet myself. I am so ashamed.

dylan: For once, we agree completely! [IMG]

Julianne Moore is a good actress but she isn't in the same league with Foster. As for Bond, I really don't mind Pierce Brosnan but true afficianados know that Connery was the best.

Maybe I feel this way because I can't stand Jodie Foster.

I think Moore is a much better actress.

Quick everyone, stock up on canned goods cause the angel's trumpets are a'blowin! [IMG]

Although Connery has to be considered the best Bond becuase of the everything he did with the role I think I would pick Brosnan as the guy who is more suave and kick-ass. Goldfinger is my fav Bond movie but something about Brosnan just screams British Secret Service to me much more than with Connery. Maybe it's because Connery has had so many other roles that it's kind of diluted his Bond-esqe qualities. [IMG]

Despite my earlier comments that I heard this film was crap, I went and saw it tonight (my Dad called and asked if I wanted to go see it). While I wouldn't classify it as "crap", it had only a few funny moments, and it seemed to drag in places.

I heard that movie was complete and utter crap.

As for Hannibal. I'll probably see it when it comes out on tape or on HBO (which is where I saw Silence of the Lambs and Manhunter). I'm interested in seeing it, but not enough to actually leave the house to do so.

    I loved Hannibal.

Saving Silverman was OK, but that's just because Neil Diamond was in it. It'll be a great video though.

    BTW, Amanda Detmer is hot!

    Saw Hannibal tonight....

It might not have been the worst movie I ever saw, but it sure dissapoints.

I have read where Oldmans character was supposed to almost rival Lecter in terms of evil.

Uh, yeah....If there IS a place where he rivals Lecter it is sheer ineptitude.

Not having Foster is a tremendous loss. Moore is a wonderful actress but the style of the character lends itself more naturally to Foster. Asking Moore to effect the laid back drawl was a mistake. This shows up most in the scene where they are playing tapes of the original interviews conducted by Starling with Moores voice dubbed in.

This movie trades the style of the first movie for more gore and shock value. A great performance by Hopkins cant even save this stinker.

RM95: My sister-in-law is 24, loves Austin (she went to UT), works for an architectural firm here in Houston, is very cute and is unhappy in her relationship. Why do I tell you this? Because she also is a lifelong Neil Diamond fan. I think you two are meant to be together. Interested?
