man i was actually about to post how incredible they had it setup because i have yet to have any lag at all, it runs just like i'm playing the campaign. there are a few times when the game goes to that loading screen where it's trying to re-estabish the connection but i think that's on their end because it happens to everyone in the map. hopefully my connection stays this good!

of course with that my x-box is totally f@#ked up and will just shut off during games or as it's happened 7 times now, the disc will just pop out in the middle of a match, it lets me finish the match but when it goes to the results screen, the harddrive makes this huge noise and shuts off. after this happens i have to wait like 15 minutes before my x-box will even run another game. then one time when i turned it on the screen said your x-box needs to be serviced so i turned it off waited a bit and it worked again. anyways i'm thinking soon i'm gonna need a new one.

so we should definitely get some clan action going on a regular basis, maybe not against other clans but we can whoop up on each other more than we do. i've played a few games with some of you guys and it's been fun.

    Hey DonnyMost,

Who does that boss head belong to? It almost looks like that actor who has the fake tan. I forget his name...some Vincent Price wannabe. That's pretty funny, though. It looks more like a boss from Doom 3 than Halo 2.

One cool feature about the whole Halo 2 Xbox Live experience is that you can go to http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ and search for the stats and every game someone has played by typing their name in the "locate gamertag" box.

StevieFranchise is mine if you wanna lose.:p

I haven't seen anything in this thread about it, but there's an extra multiplayer map called the Foundation.

    Link

Sorry if it's already been posted.

Well, now I know what those people who watched "Empire Strikes Back" in the movie theaters felt like... "I have to wait years to see the next one!?!"

Not so much the plot of the movie or ending, just the waiting in anticipation for the next one. :D

You know one of my friends brought up a good pt...maybe the ending is such a cliffhanger like that cause they made 2 and 3 (assuming there is a 3 which there has to be now) at once (like LOTR and Matrices) and 3 will come out within a year or so..that way it can be launched before the next gen Xbox comes so that basically they can start fresh with the Halo franchise on the next console... I dunno if there is any truth to that but it is an interesting take.

That is a pretty interesting idea, but I don't see it happening.

First off, I don't really see how they could make Halo 2 and 3 in this time frame, unless Halo 3 just sucks. I'm pretty sure the 3 years since Halo 1 were spent entirely on Halo 2, especially with how long some games are taking to develop now (HL2 and Doom being some of the crazy ones). They could, however, come on with a type of expansion pack or something, like a Halo 2.5 (I think I even read something about a Halo 2.5, but I think it was more an idea than anything). That actually wouldn't be too bad of an idea either since they could just add some more things to Halo 2 and release it in 6-8 months or so, maybe even with a smaller price tag.

This sort of brings me to another point about it being unlikely that a Halo 3 would be released by that time: it would hurt Xbox 2 sales, especially if it doesn't have backwards compatibility. Microsoft's approach next-gen seems to be to get as much of a user base as possible before the PS3 and Revolution can get off their feet, but that probably won't work if the biggest title Microsoft has rights to is currently being played on the Xbox, meaning that Xbox owners probably wouldn't have much incentive in owning a Xbox 2, especially if the launch titles suck again. Chances are that a Halo 4, in this case, may not be ready until both the PS3 and Revolution are up and running, which could not go as well for Microsoft if it has to face a next-gen GTA, FF, MGS, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid all at once. Of course, Halo 3 may have to do this anyway, but maybe it will be better prepared for the fight with development time. (or maybe they could try to release in in early-to-mid '06, around the time the PS3 and Revolution launch so that Microsoft can keep attention on them)

I haven't played Halo 2 (stupid real world interference), but I have read that there is a cliffhanger. From what I remember, Bungie wanted to stop at H2, but of course Micro$oft doesn't want that. Perhaps this was something Bungie did so that Microsoft could find another developer to continue the series. I would expect either Bungie or the new developers to either already have dev kits for next-gen or be the 1st to get them so that Halo 3 could be released ASAP on the Xbox 2 to help increase initial sales. That idea is not bad and they could possibly follow something similar a little later when there wouldn't be a next-gen console coming out soon.

Now time for more Halo hating : ;)

I figured this was going to happen but Halo 2 has lost some ground on Gamerankings (95.1) and Metacritic (96). It is now either on par with HL2 and GTA:SA, or even worse (although I'm guessing HL2 could go down some as well). That stupid Zelda game is hard to overtake.

Additionally, the records Halo 2 set on launch may not even last very long. It seems like the launch of Dragon Quest 8 in Japan may beat it. Reports say that Square-Enix plans on shipping 2.5 million copies of the game, and retailers are demanding 700,000 more. What is even crazier is that the game will cost ~$80-$90 on the 1st day, which would definitly mean that the money Halo 2 made on the 1st day ($125 million IIRC) may not even be close to the money DQ8 makes. ($80*2.5mil=$200 mil) Of course, these are according to early reports that could be false, so this isn't a done deal, although I know the Japanese are pretty crazy about their DQ games. I probably would too but, strangely, I haven't played one yet even though I want to. I just find it funny that they made a big deal about the number of copies Halo 2 sold and then not that much longer after that, here comes a game that an average American gamer may not have ever heard of that breaks Halo's record.

Yeah you're right... I just read in Game Informer that they're developing Halo 3 for Xbox 2 ...which I guess makes the most sense... I think I'm just still pissed at the ending and horrendous story that preceded it.

The ONLY thing that could have Saved the Halo 2 ending......If they had announced out of the blue that Halo 3 would go on sale in the new year.

I think that would have floored everyone and the hype would have been incredible. You'd stop thinking about the TERRIBLE, ROTTEN ending and been pumped up about getting Halo 3.

In all of my time playing games.....I cant think of a worse ending for a game ever. Its a shame because with a couple of more levels and atleast some type of wrap up....Halo 2 would have been one of the top 3 games of all time EASILY.

    SPOILERS!!!!!

If you ask me they should have had Master Chief killing the Covinent that had headed to Earth and stopping any "Invasion" that was on the cards.

Halo 3's story line....getting the the Halos shut down for good, then heading to the Covinent planet for the final showdown. On XB3, Im guessing Halo 3 could have been a huge epic battle.

For me, the way Halo 2 was done as an obvious "Lets make them buy the next one by giving them an unfinished product" ploy killed the whole thing for me.

    Very dissapointing. :(

What was worse than the crap ending was the progressively worsening storyline that unfolded...which after hearing your idea I feel compelled tell my own :D

SPOILERS (Though at this point Im sure anybody who hasnt played and finished it doesnt care to)

Instead of turning the game into a political upheaval between the Brutes and Elites w/ the Prophets going Heavan's Gate on everyone (thereby totalling ignoring Earth's and humanity's struggle against anhialiation)... they should have followed the same story in the beginning...w/ Master Chief going to Earth to head off the invasion than following the battle cruiser w/ Regret in it to another Halo...then trying to stop Regret from activating Halo (while following the Arbiter's storyline of himself trying to activate Halo and watnot, only not playing the Arbiter (at least not yeat, cause this is still Master Chief's story). So it follows that (and cuts out any Brute/Elite war and crap). And then the Master Chief's and Arbiter's path converge once the chief deactivites Halo...they both come to the realization (as Cortana picks up encrypted data off the Covenant battle net) that activation of Halo was merely a diversion to lead Master Chief away from earth, making easier for a bigger invasion to wipe out earth and humanity for good. The Arbiter was merely a pawn and decoy to help the diversion succeed. So afte realizing that the Covenant and especially the Prophets betrayed him the Arbiter forms an unlikely alliance w/ the Master Chief to wipe out the Covenant. Now at this point, they're pretty stuck on Halo w/ no ship to get home. So then through some trickery they hijack a Covenant ship, head home, save earth...the end.... then that paves the way for 3...which would be a good idea of shutting down the other Halos and wiping out the Covenant for good.

But no, they dish out some piece of crap story which by the end...blew.... and if you go back and look at the campaign...the only truly great levels... were the 2 missions on earth and the first 2 missions on Halo... cause both of those had a urban warfare and jungle warfare feel to it...and it wasn't justing going same corridor after same corrdier or battling stupid flood or any of that other crap. But what do i know...

And whats worse I cant even log onto LIve for some reason...
