I think Hakeem and Alexander have an understanding that if the Rockets are not going to make the playoffs, then they will release Hakeem so he can go wherever he wants in the last month of the season.

I don't think this big..hush/hush trade has anything to do with Hakeem.

I think the trade probably is something like this...

    Cato to Chicago
    Fizer to Vancouver
    Swift or Raheem to Houston

Those are the primary players in the deal..IMHO.

How'd you figure that out DaDakota?

Does it have anything to do with:
    1) IR = Cato.
    2) Cato and Rahim can't possibly be in a 2 team trade.
    3) Clutch said Vancouver himself.
    4) Swift or Rahim are the only players we could even use from Vancouver, and that might elicit some sort of 'party'.

I don't know about the Chicago part (it's just as plausible that it's Miami), but I think it's safe to say you're correct about everything else. [IMG]

what about this suggestion from TSN?

    1. The Suns will make a big deal for a big man. Don’t expect Phoenix to take its pack of forwards — Shawn Marion, Cliff Robinson, Rodney Rogers and Tom Gugliotta — into the playoffs. The Suns will not make the playoffs if they don’t make a deal. With only Marion a lock to stay, expect Phoenix to bring in Dikembe Mutombo or Hakeem Olajuwon.

oh... and i gotta add in the obligatory "don't let the door hit you on the way out hak"

It is all right around the corner. I think Dream could help the Rockets, but I think that Rudy is trying harder to get his guys to grow up fast, and they will be without Dream next year, so no time like the present.

As for my powers of observation....well....

I was just playing w/ you DaDakota... [IMG] I think you are totally correct.

Hottoddie, I am also intrigued by the Rockets' pin on Chicago's 3 future firsts. Hell, if I were Vancouver and seriously wanted to do a deal, I'd just friggin' give away Swift to a third party to facilitate a trade...( or as heyp does it,,, ) if I got rid of Reeves as well.

So many possiblities. I have to see a doctor,,, I'm going to go blind trying to figure them all out.

I don't think he will be traded.

I just see him finishing this season and signing on with a contender.(Please not LA or Utah)

Although both would fit his style well.

Yeah, I'm starting to think the same way. I would like to get something for him, but we need capspace for Mo and Shandon, we need to keep our basic core of players...but we need to get better.

Me, I think we're gonna make a trade (SAR and/or Swift), maybe a 3-way with Chicago. Then we release Dream. He's just getting in the way now.

    But who knows.

It seems that Alexander said so too, in the Chronicle today it was reported that he and Hakeem will meet again in a month to asess the situation..

    The Plot thickens.
