I love Hakeem's laugh. He giggled when 610 told him it would be great if he would consider signing with the Rockets for the playoffs and play for like 10 minutes a game.
"just watcinhg the slam dunk, my knees were aching." His response after being asked about backing up yao This has been the best interview in the history of 610 radio.
DAMNIT! I was busy at work and couldn't listen Someone give a better recap for the rest of us, please.
me neither, but J-fizz messaged me up on myspace letting me know about it, so i tuned in. The 610 morning show is just about dead. The revival hour is the best thing on radio though
no...................that's not gay at all.........................I think the first thing all rockets fans think of first when we think of Dream is his gentle voice.....
i just wish hakeem would become more of a prominent role with the rockets right now even when he's retired. i just miss seeing him around. i was so pumped when he showed up to a playoff game last yr. hell, maybe him promoting the team can help improve the damn home crowd. i just feel that hakeem is the only figure that all houstonians can connect to. not everyone can connect to tracy or yao b/c they haven't done anything. but i understand that he has his other obligations.
Marc seems like a complete jerk to Dream. Why have him on if you are not going to seem interested in what he has to say.
Hakeem's thoughts on the current Rockets team and Yao was pretty simple, that they are better than their record and they just need to develop the belief that they are THE team to beat in the playoffs, and not just a contender. He seems more about mindset than anything. Hakeem's not one to say "they need to shore up the depth at small forward", "Rockets need to lessen their turnovers and defend the P-n-R better" but still he did say Yao already has all the tools. That Yao needs to develop his defensive tenacity and become a better stopper in the interior how tall but unskilled Mark Eaton did. Yao fans still might revolt cuz he did say Dwight Howard is tops on the list at center
The truth may hurt sometimes. Howard is the closest thing I've seen to Dream since dream. He's atheletic, quick, powerful, and aggressive at all times at both ends of the floor. That's no knock on Yao, that's a testiment to the work ethic of Howard. What he said about yao is what I always say. Yao doesn't compete on the defensive end like he should at times. He still plays too high and doesn't play to his length. He should lock himself in the film room and take not on how low Dekes ass is when he's guarding a guy outside of 12ft. Its like night and day. Its not because Yao can't do it, its like he's either reluctant or something else. His space between those al jefferson, carlos boozer and elton brand types basically gives those guys uncontested shots. In the nba, u can't do that.
