Man I watched this video and wow. Brought a tear to my eye. It's pretty appropriate since the 22 game streak and 12 games away from the playoffs. To remember where we came from and where we are going. Sorta like a historical pedigree to our franchise. Go Rockets!! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hW4uXlRGAF0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hW4uXlRGAF0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I would KILL to get all 6 games somehow. That series was probably my favorite moment in Rockets history. A sporting event has never made me happier than those games...watching Hakeem destroy Robinson and Rodman. His arsenal was insane, and he showcased all of it against Robinson.
i remember watching that playoff series when i was young, man it brought a smile to my face to see the Dream on the court.
No matter how great David Robinson was, that series has left a memorable image of Robinson burnt into my brain...Didn't think too much of him after that
Gotta love "Double Clutch." I have that tape and have seen it so many times that I've almost memorized what everyone says ... Well maybe not that many times but close. I think someone uploaded the entire tape on youtube but I'm not sure if it's still up there. But nonetheless, great vid ... I wish I was old enough at the time to realize how awesome that season really was ... Hakeem! Hmm. I have a poster in my room that shows you step by step (4 steps ) how to do do a dreamshake. For some reason I still can't pull it off like Hakeem did ... hm. When I was watching that vid, I think I saw a move Scola has adapted ... and same goes for Tmac.
Awesome. Hakeem is and will always be my biggest sports idol. Nobody's ever going to be able to get down the dreamshake. Thing of beauty.
David Robinson in series: 23.8 points 11.3 rebounds 2.7 assists 1.5 steals Hakeem Olajuwon in series: 35.3 points 12.5 rebounds 5.0 assists 4.1 blocks 1.3 steals Game 1: Olajuwon: 27 pts - Robinson 21 pts Game 2: Olajuwon: 41 pts - Robinson 32 pts Game 3: Olajuwon: 43 pts - Robinson 29 pts Game 4: Olajuwon: 20 pts - Robinson 20 pts Game 5: Olajuwon: 42 pts - Robinson 22 pts Game 6: Olajuwon: 39 pts - Robinson 19 pts In the last two games, Hakeem outscored Robinson 81-41. I have one of the games at home, Hakeem was just too freaking good for Robinson. And the thing with Dream was that he was so humble, when he was asked after the game how he was able to dominate the MVP, David Robinson he answered, "I don't know, I think it was a team effort". Dream was and will always be unbeatable!
I have those games on DVD...gonna have to watch em again....I remember em like they were yesterday.......a young man who just turned 30...and watching that unfold...brilliant. DD
I didn't know they had playoff game boxscores? Can you show me a link to a playoff one. maybe i'm missing it?
When they talk about the best Centers, you always here Kareem, Wilt, Russel, and even Shaq. It is very frustrating... Why does Hakeem always get lumped with the David Robinsons and Patrick Ewings when it was clear, because he beat them, that he was much better? I think he was better than Shaq (not because he swept him in the finals because shaq was way too young, though).
chills That never gets old. Every time I see Robinson's face on a billboard in Austin or SA, I think of that series and just laugh.
