Why in the world is this movie getting rave reviews? The soundtrack has always sucked. The plotline is r****ded, at best. This is by far and away the most brazen attempt at glowing reviews on an otherwise awful movie.

For those who haven't seen, check out www.rottentomatoes.com and then look at John Travolta.

I can't say anymore. "Will & Grace" was a hell of a lot funnier than this. It seems anything relating to homosexuals gets a good review these days.

I'm sorry. But the first one sucked, and the second one should've never been made. It is awful.

I've no problem with the gay community, but I DO have a problem with Hollywood promoting an absolutely horrible play.

Should you doubt me, just youtube "hairspray." It is awful on every level.

Noe "Hair" might've worked these days...

Why "Hair" is so much better than john puddles idiocy:

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dyl0j3WU6Y"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7dyl0j3WU6Y" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EhbxI5eVnM4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EhbxI5eVnM4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

For the love of... at least we know these songs. Or at least 90% of us do.

I'm guessing 2% remember any "hairspray" song.

    Worthless marketing, IMO.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, but you are barking up the wrong tree for all the wrong reasons...

Hairspray is about the integration of a school dance in Baltimore...the story itself has nothing to do with the homosexual community, the travolta character is traditionally played by a man in drag, and was made famous in the original movie by Divine, and Harvey Fierstein in the Broadway adaptation...

its a musical, what did you expect?

again, I dont understand your problem here... gay people were involved in the making of this film, so now all of Hollywood promotes the gay agenda? is the gay mafia keeping you up at night?

Musicals are the worst form of entertainment. Ever.

I thought the first one was a fun movie.

I do have a big problem with a fun movie being turned into a Broadway musical being turned into a movie again.

It says alot about the lack of creativity in the entertainment industry that I rant about alot around here. I know there are still pockets of brilliance in movies, theatre, art & music, but in the last 20+ years it seems like we're being force-fed regurgitated bile more and more.

John Travolta looks like an idiot.

I want to punch him in the face.

    West Side Story kicks ass.

Caberet is pretty cool (lots of chicks dancing in lingerie). The Music Man is pretty funny and Brigadoon is good too.

But again, West Side Story kicks ass.

I could totally see an HBO series on this.

gay mobster: Hmmm...nice hair salon you got here. It would be a shame if somebody came in here with a humidifier and frizzed up all your clients' hair!

hair salon owner: Ohh, you're so bad!

I've never been into musicals, but I really liked "Rent" when it came out. I'm probably going to see this movie with my family tomorrow.

Also, I didn't realize it was related to homosexuality? In the trailer I felt like it was about racial relations and fat people relations. It seems like a nice light hearted feel-good movie.

I think it's pretty much given that any broadway musical is related to homosexuality in one form or another...

I couldn't agree with this more. Broadway is weighed down with recycled crap and the film industry is following right behind.

Watching a fat chick dance on the screen, and Travolta dressed like a woman doesn't interest me.

Jezz man, over react much? Movie's not you cup of tea so why bother getting pissed if other people like it?

I'm not a fan of fantasy movies but that doesn't mean I get pissed if they remake an old one or think the D&D crowd has somehow taken over.
