ok, this may sound juvenile to many of you, but this was the actual highlight of my week... ok, so it was 3:00pm, the most boring time of the day for me. Its a few hours before ESPN airs PTI and Sportscenter, and a few hours after the good movies finish on HBO, SHO, STARZ, etc. By this time, every thread in the Hangout has been read by me and the links are all darkened from being clicked on about a bajillion times... so i jump into my "bowl chair" and start flipping through the digital cable onscreen guide... eh soap opera, judge show, magnum pi (seen them too many times), spongebob, he-man, fishing on ESPN2... WAIT, HE-MAN?????? I did a backflip to the cartoon network and what was showing? The original pilot episode of "He-man: Masters of the Universe" It was the 1.5 hour feature pilot, explaining how Prince Adam came across Grayskull, the sword, and the first meeting between He-man and Skeletor, as Skeletor nearly killed Randor... My eyes widened as I recognized and could name every character on the screen! He-man (prince adam), Battlecat (cringer), orko, teela, man-at-arms, ram-man, trapjaw, skeletor, evil lynn, beastman, aquaman!!! I was in freakin' heaven! As an 80s child (born in the late 70s), He-man was my life! Watching this cartoon yesterday brought back great memories of playing with my He-men action figures with my friends in my front yard... We'd use the little grassy hill in the middle of my yard as Eternia, place Grayskull on one side and Snake Mountain on the other side and wage mega-battles!!! That 1.5 hours brought me back to the innocence of childhood. A time when we didn't worry about bills, money, taxes, or relationships. The most important thing for the day was getting Mommy to let us play outside a little longer with our friends, even after it was getting dark... Ahh, to be 6 years old again. And to think when I was that young I couldn't wait to be an adult and on my own, so I wouldn't have to listen to my parent's rules. Now its all... "Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again" "Back in the Day" by Ahmad reminiscing... one of the treasured long lost arts...
drapg: Dude...NO F*CKING WAY!!! If He-Man is coming on now, I MUST tape the episodes!! I still wish that I had my action figures.
ahh man, don't hate on He-man fans! Manny, I know what you mean... my parents sold my He-men action figures in a garage sale back in 1988 when I stopped playing with them... too bad, I would love to see them now! ok, DoD, go ahead and bash me too!
It was a new movie on Cartoon Network. It wasn't old episodes if you were wondering. It was pretty good. I assume they are either going to make more movies or start regular episodes sometime. Or they just may let it rot.
Manny, I hope you read this on time, or find out some other way... but it is showing again from 6-7:30pm on Cartoon Network today... I just set my VCR (since I'll be out of the house)... man, i hope you read this in time dude!
Yeah, I got it in time (thank goodness!). Thanks for letting me know about it, drapg! Oh and you will have to ignore Doctor of Dungeons and Dragons. He is only a geezer that stared at the sun all day until his retinas burned out because there was no TV back when he was growing up and by God, he liked it!
Some He-Fan you are. Aquaman = Super Friends/DC Comics Superhero. MerMan = He-Man baddie. ....and thanks for the tip: I'm going to set my VCR right now.
i prefer thundercats. my local paper yesterday had a section for comic news and there's like a new thundercats comics coming out. i gotta find it. i used to have almost all their action figures. unlike he-man, thundercats didn't look like they were over-muscled midgets. she-ra is from he-man right? anyone know the female thundercat's name? i had her action figure too. she was a hottie. i used to bend her arms and legs this way and that way to make her pose for me.
Sword of omens....help me see sight beyond sight.... <weird music> Ahhh...I see now...He-man sucks. ThunderCats 4 LIFE! AWOOOOO!!!! (cue nWo theme music)
Well I used to watch it and I know what ur talkin bout and I'm only 16. I used to have the green tiger action figure and I used to have the old stories-on-records.
I don't remember watching it, but I did have a lot of He-Man action figures. Guess I liked them at some time. But thoses toys got "taken" away, as well. I'm still a little mad at my parents for burning my kid blanket.... I WASN'T TOO BIG FOR IT! I almost cried when they burned it...
