Man. I am excited about this game. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I think I better pre order it considering it will probably be sold out in the first few days here in College Station.
FHM has a review in it this month on San Andreas and has the vast improvements it has over the first two.
That should answer your question. It wouldn't be a couple of years though, or at least it shouldn't. (was it really that long between versions for the last ones?) I was wondering whether they would release it in a year, let alone 2-3 years down the line. By that time, all three next-gen consoles would be wowing us with their games and I don't see why they would release GTA:SA when there are other games with 10X the graphics, 10X the land mass, and 10X the features. They'd probably have to release it pretty cheap just to sell it, and whether or not Xbox 2/Xenon is backwards compatible would have a factor in their decision as well. I don't think they would both porting the code and fixing little things for an Xbox version and then sell the game at like $10 for a console that isn't even really played anymore. I kind of forgot about the PC version of the game. Now that I think about it, it should be pretty awesome for the PC along as there aren't any bugs or anything. IIRC, there were some mods for GTA 3/ Vice City and I'm curious to see what they could do this time. I thought I read about an online mod for GTA 3/Vice City, so I wonder if they would be able to do the same this time.
I can't wait till this game comes out. I am getting tired of my "crime life" in the old GTA games. Vice City was too small, and GTA 3 is missing the goodies. I can't wait till this new game. Those trailers are awesome!
I think I remember hearing/reading that Vice City was only released on XBox due to a loophole of some sort in their "exclusive" deal with Sony, and that the loophole has since been closed. Anybody else hear anything like this?
Actually I do recall hearing that San Andreas wasn't going to be on multiple platforms (other than PC). There was something in the deal that made it open market for the Xbox too.
Soundtrack section of the official site now has clips from ten of the eleven radio stations (nothing from the talk station, PLEASE BRING BACK LAZLOW K?) E: Radio-X is grunge, I think
Thanks for the heads up. Man, this game looks insane. I loved GTA 3 becaues of the vehicles (modern looking), and this game seems to have a mix of modern cars and older ones. Looks fantastic.
The Germans apparently got hold of the full soundtrack: http://gtareactor.justgamers.de/gtareactor/?page=87 No storyline spoilers in there, just the songs on the radio.
I'll be playing this game a lot also. Here's a nice stat for y'all. Fans of the series know how big Vice City was - well get this, San Andreas will be 3 times the size of that. 3 VICE CITY'S!
That's something I really like. Plus, with the ability to swim, that kind of adds to the playable size. What is amazing to me is that even with the sheer size of GTA:SA, there are only supposed to be loading times when you go inside buildings. That's pretty amazing, IMO.
