I have just recently discovered ground turkey. I've been eating ground beef all my life. I've been eating turkey all my life. Both are good. But at the beginning of the year my girlfriend and I decided that we needed to make some diet changes. Ground turkey instead of ground beef was one of those changes.

I'm having difficulty seeing the downside.

On absolutely EVERYTHING I have tried ground turkey in, it tastes significantly better than the dish did with ground beef. Spaghetti, sloppy joe, hamburger helper ("you ain't the boss of me!"), lasagna, etc. The flavor just seems so much more robust. And on top of that, it is generally better for you (or so I am lead to believe) and it seems to be cheaper than the ground beef as well. Anyone else use ground turkey in place of ground beef?

My girlfriend and I have been doing the whole ground turkey as well and I have to say that I do enjoy it alot.

We always get the ground turkey breast which has only four grams of fat per pound and it has alot of protein.

I don't eat it exclusively in place of ground beef, but I do substitute it from time to time.

    Turkey burgers are great!

When I do buy ground beef it is usually at least 85% lean. 90% lean sirloin is sweeeeet.

    They sell ground chicken too.

We buy turkey everything in place of ground beef. Tacos, burgers, spaghetti. Yum. The hot turkey sausage is great as well.

I didn't say why you should try ground goat. It looks and tastes just like ground beef.

LOL, Roc Paint thought he was eating real chicken at McD's. that's like thinking you've been seeing real breasts in p*rn.

but, as usual, McDonald's and p*rn teach us a valuable lesson: fake isn't always bad.

i mean McDonald's fake pancakes are the finest breakfast food i know of and i would probably include them in my final meal.

Someone with more knowledge on this can correct me, but not all ground turkey is necessarily healthy in terms of things like fat. There is lean turkey and there is turkey which is 15% fat.

If you like beef, try longhorn ground beef. It is generally 98% fat free. It's got less cholesterol, calories, and fat than chicken and most cuts of turkey.

    I agree, except with chili.

Chili is much better with beef or venison than turkey. However, if you are in a pinch, some Mortons Montreal Steak seasoning brings the turkey close to where it needs to be.

    But its not the same.

You mean "nummy" is a word, I thought it was a typo. It must be some hip new slang that you kids are throwing around. I can dig it.

Ground turkey is outstanding as is ground venison. Both have less fat than beef and to me, taste better.

Longhorn beef generally has less cholesterol, fat, and calories than turkey.

What always blows me away is that turkey is higher in protein than beef??

But man... venison... that stuff is crack when prepared right. :)
