Is there anything in which he transcends the position other than size? I don't watch many Pats games, but the versatility of a Hernandez seems like a better fit for Belichik's style, but Gronk's height is what makes him the scoring threat. Luckily for the league both have problems staying on the field.

Dude what? you just say stuff without putting any thought or logic into it. TG has been putting up Hall of Fame numbers with crappy QBs and now he finally has a decent one in Ryan.

    Think before you post...please.

Lol whatever, I'll catch 1000 yards for the Pats.

I'm sure ole Belichick will grab a waterboy or something to fill the needs and they'll produce somehow.

And yet, outside of Welker of course, he can't do much regarding WRs.

Corrected to mean in recent history. Can't draft or pick one up off the street. 900 yards for Lloyd last year, but I think everyone was expecting a lot more and BB certainly didn't think of it to keep him another season especially when he needed a WR1.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is scheduled to undergo back surgery on Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to sources.

One source said the time Gronkowski will be out will depend on what else, if anything, doctors find when performing the procedure and how Gronkowski responds to surgery. There is some level of concern within parts of the Patriots organization as to when Gronkowski might return.

The Patriots will be opening training camp in late July and Gronkowski isn't expected to be available at that time. The team's regular-season opener is Sept. 8 on the road against the Bills, giving him an 11-week window from the back surgery to the first game.

The surgery, which is different from the back operation Gronkowski had in 2009 that knocked him out of his final college season at Arizona, will be performed by noted spine specialist Robert Watkins.

This will mark Gronkowski's fifth surgery since November after four on his left forearm. He also had surgery on his ankle in February 2012.
