Due to the fact that Yao is starting the All Star game, he will not be playing in the Rook/Soph game.

But Eggie will indeed have his hands full of that beast Amare..

best of luck to ya Eggie..:)

I think that EG will be just fine, do you all remember how he destroyed Drew Gooden in the preseason. Trouble is that he seems to passive or maybe just reluctant when in actual in-game situations. Don't laugh at me, but I think that he would do much better as a go-to guy. In the Allstar setting I think that EG will flourish, as much as I do agree that Stoudamire is very very good.

The big question is how many players are going to be on the sophomore team? 11? If so then there is no guarantee that Eddie even makes the team. The following 9 are almost assured to make the team and all are having better seasons than Eddie.

    Pau Gasol pf/c
    Troy Murphy pf/c
    Richard Jefferson sf
    Tony Parker pg
    Jason Richardson g
    Vlad Radmanovic sf
    Jamaal Tinsley pg
    Gilbert Arenas pg
    Andrei Kirilenko sf

That would leave two spots for:

    Brendan Haywood
    Kwame Brown
    Tyson Chandler
    Eddie Griffin

All have similar stats. Brandan Haywood is the only true center of the bunch and maybe the only true center in the sophomore class deserving enough to make the team so I think he makes the team. Now we are down to one spot and Eddie, Tyson and Kwame all have similar stats, all have similar hype so who does the NBA pick? I think if there are 11 spots on the team then Eddie will get the nod based on the fact that his numbers are slightly better and starting to rise again. Eddie is now entrenched as the starter on the Rockets while Tyson has been coming off of the bench all year and Brown is now coming off of the bench himself.

BTW, imagine if Yao Ming and Amare Stoudemire were both on the Freshman team?

    Troy Murphy???
    Are you kidding me?
Murphy only gets 2 more points than Eddie. He also plays more minutes than eddie. Plus we have a better record.
And rebounds are a different story. It seems you have forgotten that we have a 7' 6'' center!?!

EDDIE WOULD GET PICKED OVER MURPHY ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

If you don't think Troy Murphy is having a significantly better season than Eddie then you need to put down the crack pipe.

    Murphy is averaging:
    11.9 pts a game
    10.2 rebounds a game
    .424 f/g%
    .827 f/t%

Eddie is only better at blocking shots and gets pushed around the paint. At this point in their careers Troy Murphy is easily the better player.

BTW, we are talking about the Freshman vs. Sophomore All-Star game not the NBA draft. Eddie may be the superior player in a couple of years or even next year but certainly not now.

Troy Murphy is putting up stats on a team going nowhere. But then again, stats are pretty much the only thing used when putting players on the rookie teams. Arenas shouldn't be there though, not with 2 better PG's. I know Radmanovich is playing well, but what kind of numbers is he putting up?

The all star game is about individual accomplishments not team accomplishments.

Arenas is also putting up very good numbers 16 pts a game, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game. This guy was picked in the second round! He looks like a Cuttino Mobley, Rashard Lewis type of steal to me.

Don't pencil Tinsley in just yet, have you guys seen his numbers this year? He has taken a huge downslide compared to other rookies. Fantasy-wise, griffin is rated higher. And is Radmanovic really playing that much better than Griffin?
