If you said to pair up Monroe with Shaq, then that'd be awesome. But to pair him up with Patterson? That's probably the softest most fragile inside lineup in the dleague. Monroe is a finesse player. I don't think two finesse players are the best pairings. I think the best guy to get would be Thabeet. Monroe/Patterson are both offensive players and they are just good, not great offensive players. Bad pairing if I was to be the coach.
Weren't you hyping up Favors when comparing him to Cousins earlier in the season and he certainly was not getting double doubles but yet you're trying to downplay what Monroe is doing. Could have the wrong person though.
He started off the year shooting horrifically, but has been shooting over 51% from the floor over his last 20 games. He's a rookie, and that's called adjusting. Secondly, he's top 30 in the entire NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes, so his boards are not because he's logged heavy minutes (which he hasn't). He's not a superstar in the making, but he seems like he'll be pretty good for a long time. I thought of him as a Vlade Divac type when he was drafted and that seems about right so far.
Favors is 19 years old and extremely raw, any hyping up I'm doing for him is regarding what he's gonna be in the future. I hyped him up against cousins because he's much younger and doesn't have mental problems, I'm not sure what that has to do with Monroe getting 4 double doubles.
Why do people overhype players. Most rookies, if they have talent, go on rookie "runs," where they seem unstoppable. Mayo, Jennings, Larry Sanders, darren collison, and eventually they level out and fall back because the league starts to figure them out. This is one reason why Kevin Love is going to be, if he isn't already, a superstar. Because everyone knows that love is a rebounding machine and nobody can stop it. As far as Monroe goes, the kid looks promising but don't overhype him just yet.
How in the world is Favors much younger than Cousins when Favors is 19 and Cousins is 20? Good lord And it has to do with it because you're hyping up a rookie who has done nothing in this league and trying to downplay a rookie who got 4 straight double doubles as soon as his minutes increased. I understand that Favors has way more potential than Monroe but still.
you mean mentally/attitude? b/c otherwise monroe is much heavier and able to hold is own in the paint. and while fluid and mobile, he's not nearly the greyhound that odumb is.
