Morey with the Harden rep again, but he might be right. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...y-says-james-harden-best-offensive-player-all He now joins MJ, Kobe and AI as the only 5 straight 40+ in the last 50 years. 9 straight 35/5, 2 beyond Oscars old record of points and assist. Back to back 40 pt triple doubles as the first to do so. League is on notice!
I would say greatest offensive player of his era. Can't compare with Jordan who played in a time where the 3 was not used as much, thus his scoring efficiency seems low by today's elite players standards. Plus Jordan's scoring volume and duration of his offensive dominance far exceeded what Harden has done so far in his career. When you add Harden's volume of scoring (1st in league since joining Houston), his scoring efficiency (8 straight seasons at 60+ TS%)and his playmaking (4th in assists since he joined Houston) there has been nobody that has done all these for so long in the post-MJ era. Lebron could have an argument, but he falls short on efficiency, and on his scoring volume on a per 36 minutes basis (he was playing 40-42 mins/game when he had similar scoring avg to Harden).
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/11370572/james-harden-confidence-growing-sessions Remember in 2014 when James Harden was putting up MVP numbers and said he hasn't come close to reaching his potential and we were all rolling our eyes like "pshhh yeah right..." Well... what can I say?
To have the mental fortitude to hit that shot after witnessing such a blatant ref mistake leading to their go ahead bucket... That's MJ/Kobe/Hakeem level mental toughness.
He can dunk, FTs, layups, pass, 3pt FGs, 4pt plays, technical FTs.... Only thing missing is half-court shots, his next weapon. I can't believe he maybe the only player in NBA history that Rockets underpaid.
This guy made the league changed rules just to stop him. Now they are making some extreme defense plan against him. I have never seen anything like this from any players. This guy truly is a monster. I believe next year, he will no longer have any weaknesses because he will work on it. He can go left/right and literally shoot anywhere from the court.
He will continue to improve and that is scaring the league. No matter what defense they come up with he will just figure out a new offensive move to defeat it. Yeah he is the GOAT offensively and I had assumed he had reached his peak by now and glad I am wrong. I never thought I would live long enough to have another player with the stature of a Hakeem. The best player in the league but here I am living it and loving watching every game this man puts in knowing I am watching history being made.
