The Zepplin thread reminded me of all their great songs that many people, who only hear the songs deemed worthy of radio play, are unfamiliar with. What are some of your favorite lesser-known songs by great bands? If you know the album it's on, I'd appreciate it, as I am feeling the need to go on a music buying spree. For starters:

The Doors - Peace Frog (Morrison Hotel)
Jimi Hendrix - Up from the Skies; Wait Until Tomorrow (Axis: Bold as Love)
Rolling Stones - Mothers Little Helper (Hot Rocks)
Grateful Dead - Bertha (Live #1)
Allman Bros - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (Live at the Fillmore)

Buddy Guy--Damn Right I got the Blues.

Not the song though; the whole album.

    Great thread Buck!!

I'm a little biased, but, anything by Hendrix is great. Everything on Axis is awesome and not very well known to the general public (other than Little Wing and Spanish Castle Magic). :)
If you don't have "Band of Gypsys" or "Cry of Love" I highly recommend them. Everything on either one of those CD's is very good.

If you can find anything by Peter Green get it. He was an original member of Fleetwood Mac and wrote "Black Magic Woman." Probably the best blues guitarist in England until he had a mental breakdown. After he left Fleetwood Mac he joined John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. When he left John Mayall's group, he was replaced by Eric Clapton. His solo stuff is also very good. "Green & Guitar" - The Best of Peter Green 1977-'81 - is highly recommended.

"All Cats Are Grey" - The Cure
    "Funeral Party" - The Cure
    "Plainsong" - The Cure
    "Disintegration" - The Cure
pretty much the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd and there are other albums like that but I will just leave it at Dark Side of the Moon.

BTW - good call on the Smiths and Morrissey, LeGrouper!

Damn, I just remembered that I forgot to mention probably the greatest song ever by the Smashing Pumpkins in "Mayonaise" off "Siamese Dream"....an amazing song.
