I really hated that NBC couldnt afford the NBA anymore. I was kinda crushed.

I liked NBC's production value much more.

I loved the double headers on Saturdays, and the Triple Headers on Sundays in late April and May.

Bob Costas and or Hannah Storm > Dan Patrick or whoever else they have.

I'd take Peter Vescey over Stephen A. Smith any day.

i loved all the highlights from our two championships.

that iverson over lue moment always seems so cool. just nails the shot in his face and emphatically steps right over him.

and echoing Kam (and probably everyone) man i wish it could still be on nbc. it was just so much better. and i don't even say that nostalgically. the abc production is just not even in the same league. there was a certain feeling about having a game on nbc on saturday or sunday. it felt like a big time thing, even if it was just part of one of those triple-headers (which were awesome). sunday games on abc are just another game. and this doesn't even get into the announcers and the studio show or the awesome intros they would do for the playoff games and of course the theme music. come back nbc!!

Well, if all of you who miss the NBA on NBC were as passionate, and spread the word to all of your friends to watch, when NBC was struggling to get viewership in the early 2000's... maybe the NBA would still be a force for network TV.

The bottom line is that the viewership had dwindled to a point where it wasn't worth it for ANY major network to invest the NBA's asking price... it made sense for ESPN, and since Disney owns both them and ABC, the NBA was able to keep the major games (the Finals) available for network TV.

Maybe the new breed of stars can help boost the popularity back to a level where it makes it desireable for someone like CBS or NBC to get back into the NBA... but for now, the ratings/popularity of the sport is the major limiting factor.

great video, man, NBA on NBC was da bomb. I remember when I was a little 9 year old, I would stay at home all Saturday so I could watch the triple, sometimes quadruple-header.

    OMG that was freakin awesome.

Here's to hoping NBC makes a push to get the NBA back now that we're entering a new golden age. Tired of lame middle-aged rock singers doing the music on ABC unlike the great scores NBC did.

If the NBA on NBC viewers had dwindled based upon interest, I'm curiuous why attendance was/is at record levels. Those two aspects seem incongruent.

I hate ABC you'll hear some silent moments and if something big happens they dont even get excited. TNT is the best. My favorite one is
" Here comes McGrady oohhhh he just sucked the gravity right out of the building" :) :) :)

I liked NBC's production as well. Something about ABC just rubs me the wrong way.

It's kind of interesting when NBC took over the NBA from CBS, it really was truly the end of the Magic/Bird Era, and then when NBC took over, it was Jordan's era and alot of the stars of the 90s really emerged to new level. Now, we're in the mix of the new wave of stars(Lebron, Wade, Yao) mixed in with the wave that came in the mid 90s(Garnett, Iverson, Kobe, McGrady, Duncan)
