Now that Utah picked up Fisher, is Giricek somebody the Rockets should consider trying to trade for? He's a shooter/slasher-not-a-great-defender kind of player, and signed for the next couple of years at 4 million per...
I don't understand the logic of your proposal. I'd be fine with Giricek, but I don't understand how acquiring Fisher affects Giricek's standing in Utah or Utah's willingness to part with Giricek. They play different positions. I wonder if somewhere a Golden State fan is posting "Now that the Rockets have picked up Shane Battier, is Yao Ming somebody the Warriors should try trading for?"
Giricek was doing fairly well before his injuries and has a cheap contract but even if he was playing well and healthy what do we have that would interest the Jazz?
Look at his minutes, it decreases every game. He is Jerry Solan's dog house. It is not a fun thing to be in Jerry's dog house.
Reverse that. Utah dealth three contracts to acquire Fisher. If anything, there is a glut in Golden State and we should be talking to them about Petrius. (who I'd much prefer to Giricek anyway)
Yes, he's still on a rookie, but he'll be a restricted free agent after this upcoming season. warriors would get more value out of dealing him next free agency.
My guess is that Owens will be waived as soon as he's traded. McLeod just re-signed, so that contract might also be a one-year, non-guaranteed deal as well. The only contract that Golden State is likely on the hook for is for Devin Brown. All in all, I doubt this creates any situation involving Golden State desperately needing to rid themselves of Pietrus due to lack of roster spots.
He would, but I have hunch that the Warriors traded Fisher for three expriring contracts to make it easier for them to extend Pietrus.
paxil you brought up an interesting point. If Utah thinks Giricek is junk and wants to dump him they might trade him to another team. I feel he has some value at 10.6 points a game despite playing only 37 games if he is currently fit. If he is unhealthy he certainly doesn't need to be on the Rockets.
What does that have to do with Fisher and Giricek. When he is healthy he is their starting off-gaurd or backup to Ronnie Brewer and Utah is the one that lost depth.
Giricrap blows. Tmac truuly doesnt like this guy forget the mike james rumors. This team doesnt need that guy. They can do better
Fisher is not exclusively a point and will almost certainly get minutes at SG. This, in addition to the emergence of Miles and the drafing of Brewer, leaves even less time for Giricek, exclusively a SG, and possibly makes him someone Utah would consider trading...
Ouch!! These are Van Gundy type guys.............................. Look out west, we're going to the wcf. We might as well start looking for his replacement.
