Keep in mind I did not see the performance.. but the way I understand it.. there are 5 judges.. 3 votes russian and 2 for canadians.. they took out the french judge which leaves 2 for each side..

even t hough they determined that something bad went on and threw out the french judge score. how do you explain the other two that went for russia. were the corrupt as well? just curious

A moment of zen. How about thought? Doesn't it require more thought to post something worthwhile than it does to flash a free post sign? Then wouldn't a free post be free[er] so to speak than the thought-ladened post; thus causing it to be free of thought itself. :p :D

Now to the gold medal. I think justice was served, but what broke me up inside was at the press conference Sale and Pelletier told reporters that the people of canada and their supporters said that their silver medal was really platinum. I just thought that was a great story, and really makes up for not getting the gold in the first place. To me, I would almost have not cared to get the gold, but I understand it was an issue of reform as well.

I've always honored my FEELINGS about something more than my THOUGHTS about it.

Having said that, I'm glad the Canadians get to put a gold medal on their mantle, but, standing on the first place box, hearing your national anthem is the real gold.

If they are going to reverse or tweak this, then the 1972 game between the Americans, and the Soviets should be played again. Get all them old Commies, get Doug Collins and them other guys, and play them in a neutral site, like Berlin or something, and play the game again. Sure, it might be boring seeing 50, 55 year old guys trying to ball.

Also Roy Jones Jr got screwed. I saw it on tv mentioning that.

Man that must suck to be screwed out of a gold medal.
It's something you train over four years for, and how many chances do you get to win gold?

    Not much.

Definatley a well-deserved gold for the Canucks pair, and the support they recieved from most of the world was no doubt heart-warming.
However, this doesn't change the fact that Sale and Pelletier will never experience the rush of winning gold and elation an athlete that has trained for 4 years feels in that one moment of triumph.
And by singling out this obviously troubled French judge as the lone assassin is clearly wrong; this was clearly more than a one-man rigging and it is the system that is at fault.

Anyhoo - GO Canada! Just have to wait 'till Lemieux and the boys win gold in Men's Hockey now ...

    :)

Not sure if i agree with you on thus one Haven. The Russian pair did not really do anything wrong. The Judge was pressured by her own Skating federation to give the Russians high marks. I don't think there is any reason they should be punished. In an example that you should be able to relate to, MLB would not say "Well you know in game 7 of the World Series, That 1st base umpire made a bad call. I guess Arizona you are gonna have to give the Trophy back and we are going to give to the Yankees after all." That just would not make good sense (however the MLB often does things that are not good sense things). It just would not be fair or right to punish the Russian Skaters for something others did. Now if they had found out that the Russian skaters are the ones behind it then that would be a whole other ballgame.

    It's Ed Sprague.
As for the rest of the post about her giving back the medal. I gaurantee you if it was the other way around the Canadian would not have given it back and I would not have expected her to. See my post above to Haven for my feelings on that subject.
