we shall see i love the 5 yr quote considering various injuries. . and weaknesses around I want to see what T-mac does with the team as is now folx talking about upgrading the PF [WHOA . . .SF and Cat were responsible for weakness there] Now want some good back up PG [STeve hired Moochie/wilks/jackson whatever] as i stated. . .WE SHALL SEE Rocket River anything less than 5 extra wins. . is BS to me
What I don't understand is that for some reason you have more "confidence" in Francis improving that you do McGrady or Yao. Strange. It's almost like you want them to fail. Is your name Sam?
Let's just wish the dribble twins and the Kelvinator good luck from now on. It's over. No need to dance on the grave. Let's hope we see the good basketball we used to say we could get by getting rid of them.
I'm looking forward to DaDakota getting something new to repeat ad infinitum next year. Who will he rip? One of the new guys or will it be Yao's turn again? Stay tuned.
Pimp, I actually am going to miss Cat the most. He certainly has improved, especially defensively. 3 years ago I coined the Cutturnover name...it did not really apply this last year as much. Although he never really was a good passer. I am somewhat saddened by his loss, but he gets lumped in with the other 2 lumps...for one big lumpy...GOOD RIDDANCE !! DD
Here is an idea...play Team ball, and let the cards fall where they may...and I won't have a single thing to complain about. Well....except Beckam's penalty kicks of course. DD
I hope for success but prepare for the opposite MC and YAo improving? they have never played together so they have nothing to improve upon Overall . . I like the trade But I think people here are awefully harsh and unfair to Steve Mobes and Cato Rocket River
I loved their talent, their athleticism, their heart, passion, confidence, and love for the game. I loved that they were gym rats, hard workers, always trying to improve their game. I loved how they gave their heart to Houston, jumped into each other's arms with excitement for the game, and bled Rocket's red. From another perspective, if they weren't such good players, we never could have gotten TMac, Howard, and essentially Barry in return. If they had not played well this last year, they would not have had trade value. Even though we found ourselves frustrated with them the last year or two, we still had many good moments as Rocket's fans, and they deserve to be given credit. Many of us did get frustrated with Stevie's lack of understanding of the game and the PG position, and his stubborness and ego at times, and wish he'd have followed Oscar Robertson's advice, and fixed what was lacking in his understanding of the fundamentals of PG play, due to his hopping from team to team earlier in his development, but I was thrilled and proud that he was on our team, and was such a great player and all-star. Am I glad we made the trade? Absolutely YES. We had some great parts, but once Ming, JJ and JVG came into the picture, Stevie, especially, didn't fit. CD worked hard not to let go of Cat and Cato, but the deal couldn't be done without them. Especially if Barry signs, Barry/TMac/Howard are better fitting parts as a whole team than Francis/Mobely/Cato, and we got Gaines and Lue too. Both teams are actually much better from the trade, and I believe all three players will flourish in Orlando. But, since we have Ming to add to that tandem, it puts us farther ahead into championship contention for years to come. I find this thread tasteless, and beneath the posting ability and character of DaDakota, whom I've enjoyed reading in the past, when he wasn't going off on Francis. Perhaps I hold him to a higher standard, because he's a veteran poster on this BBS. I know he's wanted Steve out for a good while now, and has gone over the line to express that. But, this thread shows a lack of respect for what Stevie brought to our Rocket's team, regardless of frustration or excitement. He doesn't deserve this personal attack. I was going to just ignore the thread, and hope it died, without posting on it, but since it's gone to a second page, it's possible that Steve, Cat and Cato and others that matter could read this, and think the rest of us speak in the same classless way. If Ming reads something like this, it'll offend him too. I'm offended and embarrassed by reading it. As much as many of us are excited about the trade and our future, I doubt hardly any of us feel "good riddance." We thank you for everything you brought to our team while you were here, your blood, sweat and tears, and we wish you all the best in your quest to fulfill your dreams. Thanks Stevie. Thanks Cuttino, Thanks Cato.
For the sake of openness. I'm hoping that we never get to the point were we are afraid to "debate" and "criticize" a players lack of ability to play the game. Else, this BBS would be come the most boring. As well as the most politically correct BBS. Lets not have that. I say, bash on. Yes..that means that no player is off-limits. Even McGrady/Yao or Nachbar. But if you choose to bash, be prepared to backup your statements. Spare us the one liners of "McGrady sucks."
I hope you have some salt, pepper, a fork and something to drink come next playoff year. It appears someone else might have a "I think I'm better than I am" or at least a "I could do it better myself" problem. Dateline April 2005: "Paging DaDakota, Paging DaDakota... you're meals ready." btw- those "two backcourt bozos" lead us to the playoffs, and a win, versus the 2004 Western Conference Champion L.A. Lakers. Check yourself.
