BLOOD The Associated Press Tuesday, November 18, 2008; ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens has lost his bid for a seventh term. The longest-serving Republican in the history of the Senate trailed Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich by 3,724 votes after Tuesday's count. That's an insurmountable lead with only about 2,500 overseas ballots left to be counted. Stevens, who turned 85 Tuesday, also revealed that he will not ask President George W. Bush to give him a pardon for his seven felony convictions.[/rquoter]
Does Basso know something like Begitch sp? is some sort of neo-con whose whole world changed on 9/11? I guess Basso is trying to make the best out of his disappointment that Palin is missing a chance to go to Washington soon.
As she ages and the surgeries become more apparent, the infatuation suffered by our boys on the right will wane. As we tell our daughters all the time, looks are temporary, but brains last a lifetime. Pity Palin didn't understand this when it would have made a difference.
I'm glad the b*stard lost, and I'm not going to give basso grief for being glad as well. That puts the magic number in the Senate at 58, right? One run-off election to wait for and one recount. Who knows what might play out. I guess that's why Obama wanted to insure LIEberman stayed on "my" side of the aisle. Yes, Obama had other reasons, but I wish he'd stayed out of it and let the Senate Democratic caucus decide. Shows just how much influence the President-Elect has right now. I really think Joe would have lost the Homeland Security chair, otherwise. Anyway, glad Stevens is history.
