This is the first preseason game I have been able to view so I don't know much about the performance of the players except for what I have read here at clutchcity.net I was very impressed with T-mo and I can see him getting some minutes this season. I have seen more from him in one game than I have ever seen of Dan Langhi. He has the range and athleticism. He seemed to be modest in his interview with Bill and Murph, but I think he can be a big part of the Rocks just in case Rice is injured for awhile. T-mo is not a liability on defense. He is a good all around player and I am excited to have him on the Rocks. Oscar Torres also showed his range today. And as Calvin pointed out, he is the striking image of Clyde Drexler. While such a comparison may be inappropriate, he could very well turn out to be a legitimate backup for Cat. I know it's the preseason and all, but I remember seeing the potential of Cuttino Mobley his rookie year and I hope that we have the fortune of getting possibly steal in the draft and a quality backup out of nowhere! How do the Rockets find these guys? I'm really hyped about the season, and we haven't even seen Eddie Griffin or Glen Rice showcased yet. Things are looking up.
Good to see Eddie Griffin get no fouls and no turnovers , He didnt miss a shot either . he didnt have any assists rebounds or blocks though . Not bad for only playing 0 minutes .
I'm glad to see that Oscar Torres showed his shooting range,we really need a good backup for Mobley.Rock,I know it's hard to assess individual back handling skills against a zone defense, but do you think that Torres can bring the ball up the court unlike Shandon Anderson?
Oscar may be able to bring the ball up the court, though I swear once or twice he reminded me of Drexler when he looked down while dribbling down the court. If he doesn't do this normally, I think he would be able to bring it up the court better than Shandon. I wish I had taped the game so I could go back and take a better look at TMo's and Torres games. They were extremely impressive, but I didn't think to look at little things, like Torres ball handling skills. For what it's worth, I don't think Torres made any bone-headed mistakes while handling the ball. B
I would have to see Torres play more before I could make that decision, but he seems to move well with the ball. Where Shandon Anderson was more of slasher, Torres seems more of a perimeter player. And since Rudy likes shooters that can create opportunities for themselves, I think Torres is a keeper. On one occasion I saw him drive to the basket and I thought, "That was sweet!" And everytime I see his profile, I think Drexler. Basically, the slasher type Shandon Anderson's and Scottie Pippen's of the NBA have failed in the Rocket's offensive schemes over the years. Torres fits Rudy's prototype.
