boy it feels better to be on the other end when posting these anyways, damn our teams always play each other tight. francis lit us up big time and fortunatley (for us) nick was equally on fire. til we play again...later rocket fans. ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!

the nuggets played a nice game. van exel is way underrated and mcdyess is superb. unfortunetly it comes as a shock to half the BBS when we lose to them. they dont quite realize we are a mediocre team not contenders. and we got beat by another no offense mediocre team. losses happen. nice game tho nuggets. i wont take anything away from your win. ------------------ --TEX
13-9 with wins over the Lakers, Suns, and Sonics hardly makes a team mediocre. Denver IS mediocre. 10-13 is definitely mediocre. There is no way the Rockets should have lost this one on their home court. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
well we beat the spurs (2-0), wolves (2-0), lakers, sonics, philly (first team to get 100 vs them), and a few other teams. were not THAT bad ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
But the Nuggets are garbage on the Road. Great at home, but trash on the road. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
still beat the wolves and spurs on the road. were not THAT bad on the road ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
ZRB, a few upsets and a strong start do not instantly make the Rocks a contender. They are still a mediocre team. When opposing teams face us, they don't look at us in the same light as the Lakers, Spurs or even Mavericks. If Houston is three games above .500 at the end of the season, with the same line-up they have today, I would still consider them mediocre. Of course, that is not to say the Rockets will have an extremely successful team and maybe even (though unlikely) make some noise in the play-offs. If that happens, they will probably be considered overachievers, or a cinderalla team. Which might lead to an upgrade to contender status the following year. But right now, Houston is most definatly a mediocre team. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. We live for the journey. http://www.clutchtown.com
Mavericks?? Please, they are doomed to fall off. The Rockets beat them with half of their big men out. I would hardly rank them with the Lakers. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I wasn't implying the Mavs are at the same level as the LakeShow. I was merely saying that they are considered to be a level above the Rockets, and are generally are considered likely to make the play-offs, while the Rocks are not getting that same aclaim. NugzFan - Thanks for the comment and congrats (for now). Webster's defines mediocre as "middle", "ordinary" or "average". As much as I hate to admit it, this definition currently fits. Out of 14 WC teams, the Rockets are in the middle in almost every statistical category (13th in rebounding, assists, and blocks). What keeps me hopeful is the fact that the Rockets are a legitmate contender for the #8 playoff spot in spite of all their faults AND they have a tremendous upside. The current season is easily less frustrating than last and next years season promises to be even better. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited December 17, 2000).]
thanks clutch for putting me on the front page (hot bbs topic) ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
Regarding Van Exel, I don't think he is that overrated. The guy is one of those Rockets killers. He can explode and have a HUGE game against a team, but he isn't that consistent. I wonder if the outcome would have been different if Francis wouldn't have got hurt and missed 3 minutes when he was hot. Even when he came back, he was noticably limping. We still had our chances. When was the last time Leonard shot like that? ------------------
I talked to Veshan Lenard yesterday at the airport. He was pretty cool. I was having a little bit of trouble with his reservation, and he was cool about it. When he left, he just shook my hand and said "Alright then." Later I checked in McCloud and Posey and they acted kind of arrogant. ------------------
mfgarza We've been on the fortunate side of "what if" enough times to win back to back titles, and only a few ifs away from 3 or 4 more. A wise man once told me, "If my aunt had a d**k, she'd be my uncle." So take heart, brother fan, in the fact that we played well enough to win and Shania Twain isn't our uncle. ------------------ " If all babies are cute, why are there so many ugly people?"
