do you think that if the whole Webber thing goes to hell, then it would be possible to re-sign Mo, and sign Mark Jackson to about 4mil a year? We could keep Walt at the 3 (to hit some 3's)and have Cato and KT off the bench. Or even better work a trade to rid ourselves of Cato and grab a combo of SF +benchwarmers that amount to Cato's salary? Anyone? ------------------
If C-Webb does not sign with the Rockets, then signing Mo would be the Rockets first option. I would like the Rockets to make a run at Antonio Davis instead of Marc Jackson. Right about now I would take anything in return for Cato just to get ride of him and his contract. ------------------ take it one day at a time
you mean assuming we re-sign Dream. Would you want Davis as our center? i agree totally, davis is a great choice (one of the top) at PF, he rebounds and is a big boy but not at center, no way. Plus, Jackson may come a bit cheaper than Davis, wouldn't ya say? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Bingo (edited April 30, 2001).]
Signing Davis would be more expensive than Marc Jackson, but yes Dream would have to signed as the 5 and Davis as the 4. We could also sign Moooch as well keep our 3-first round draft picks and draft wisely. In Rudy we trust. ------------------ take it one day at a time
If the whole Webber thing goes to hell, then Mo and Marc Jackson would be good for the team. But the Rockets have something up their sleeve. Clutch has a source who tells him the #18 pick won't do us much good unless it can help us trade up into the Top 10, which makes me wonder if something's already been cooked up in trade but can't be consummated until July 15 or August 1 or whenever. ------------------
I personally would have no problem signing Davis to play both the 4 and 5 spots which he is capable of. He starts at center for the Raptors and has had probably his most productive season at that position. I would much rather start a rough and rugged 6-9 center than Cato. I dont think the Rockets will be able to afford keeping Dream, Mo AND sign Davis. Also, even though Davis is 6-9, he is still a much better defensive option than Mark Jackson at the center spot. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
I still don't see what the big deal is with Marc Jackson. Nothing personal, but on a decent team the guy is a backup at the most. He's not even as good as Amechi. And for those who want to quote stats, let's remember who he played for this past year. GS is not exactly crawling with decent, check that, AVERAGE big men. Give any decent player an opportunity, and he's bound to produce some decent numbers. I wasn't impressed with him when he was at Temple, and I'm still not. He looks like a taller version of Popeye Jones. ------------------
Please make sure it's Marc Jackson, not Mark Jackson. I was like "What the hell ... we need Mark Jackson with Stevie and MOOOO here?" Thank you! ------------------ They couldn't stop him in the early 90s; now they can't stop him in the 21st century -- Bill Worell on Phoenix defense on Hakeem
