Wow, i just watched this movie recently and all I have to say is that Ben Affleck creates a masterpiece. This movie is simply amazing from the ridiculously good plot to the way the director makes you feel like you are in the heart of Boston. Bottom Line: Go See It!
Seriously? Wow, I'm surprised that you found an Affleck directed movie so compelling. Mind you, I have not even seen this flick but having his name tagged as director sent warning flags in my brain. Hmm, I may check it out now.....on DVD that is.
Woah! You know, I was liked Affleck...but only in Kevin Smith movies. I guess our Holden McNeil has grown up!
Basically, envision a longer, much more elaborate and compelling version of CSI. However, unlike CSI, this movie treats the audience with respect and challenges their thinking. CSI has too many run-of-the mill cases that can unraveled. The way the plot unfolds will make you believe you know what is going on when the truth is that you don't know jack! I don't want to give away the plot but it involves the disappearance of a little girl. Affleck and his girlfriend are private detectives who are hired to assist the cops b/c of their "inside information" since most of the people will not talk to the cops or tell them truth. The movie follows Affleck's quest for the little girl. Seems straightforward doesn't it? Just go see it, you'll thank me later!
Not that it necessarily correlates to being a successful director, but he is an Oscar winning screenwriter.
Give the fool a chance, I know I know, hes from Boston and all. Hey, If a Yankees fan like me can like this movie, so can you!
I've never thought much of Ben Affleck but I've heard nothing but raves about this movie. Might just have to go see it.
Probably because I'd never seen him in an interview and my opinion was shaped by "popular" opinion and Kevin Smith movies.
The only "oh,brother" scenes in this movie were when the drug/gang leader turned his head to instruct the dimwitted, minion-broad (cliche) and when they are sitting at the bar/diner and the guy starts getting angry about the service when CA is grilling him. I can't think of anything else wrong with the movie. It was very good and I wouldn't be surprised if Affleck is nominated for an Oscar (though if he won, I would). Maybe Ed Harris, as well...
This was a damn good movie. Compelling throughout with some funny Boston-related stuff here and there and also a great deal of heart-pounding suspense and some very good directing from Ben Affleck.
Its one of the best movies of the year though I think No Country for Old Men was better. This is one of those movies that challenges every human beings code of ethics.
I saw it a week ago, damn good movie, I figured out (guessed)the ending half way through the movie, nice twists and turns. If you like the mystery/crime genre, you’ll love it…. Who else thinks Casey Affleck is a damn good actor?
Glad people are finally watching it and loving it. However, I don't know about Affleck being a great actor, he had a very excellent performance in this movie, but a great actor demonstrates flexibility in a number of different roles. Lets wait and see what this guy can do!
What's funny to me is that I was the 3rd post in this thread and I hadn't even seen the movie until about 3 weeks ago. I guess I was really high on the reviews at the time, but turns out I was right. One of my favorites of this year.
