The wifey and I are going to Anaheim from Oct 28th to Nov 4th and need some help finding stuff to do that last weekend. I'm going to be in training Monday through Thursday and we are looking to do something relaxing and not real touristy that Thursday night through Sunday. Any ideas? We are willing to drive if necessary.

Also, we are getting tickets to the Rox season opener against the Lakers, woo hoo!

why don't you just head down towards san diego and rent a little place in one of the beach towns and just chill?

Where would you find stuff like that?

well, if you drive down the coast, or take the train, it's town after town. i think they are cheaper and less touristy the further you are from san diego or l.a. ask franchiseblade, he lives in socal and can prolly direct you more specifically. my uncle lives in del mar, but you want to be north of that as it is pricey. encinitas, ocean beach maybe? don't know your price range.

zactly, but they could take the train down the coast, drink beers, no stress.

Several hundred a night? Probably no more than $300 a night. Is that realistic?

hehe...sorry...I totally overlooked that in the original post.

If you want a unique cultural experience, try going to the LA garment district downtown. It's sorta like a collection of side stores and alley ways full of swapmeet-esque shops. Very interesting.

I know this is a little touristy, but maybe check out a day cruise to Catalina Island. You can chill out there and ride around on golf carts all day. :)

i think that should be enough. we stayed with family and friends so i never really had to rent anything. but i can't imagine you not finding a place for less than $300.

yo hit me up we'll be at the lakers game as well.

as for the OC to do something not 'touristy' yet you're in anaheim probably the tourist place in the OC.

downtown disney is pretty touristy but i am sure its a bit better during a weekday night to hang out good restaurants and entertainment there

Sorry, I should've replied earlier since I live in Anaheim.

Any how, definitely Downtown Huntington Beach. There is a Bar/Nightclub named "Hurricanes" there, but the entire downtown has a crazy nightlife scene.

A bit farther away is Santa Monica ofcourse.

Lastly, Downtown Long Beach is somewhat the same as Huntington Beach Downtown. Just a bigger and more "getto" version.

All of the above are good non-tourist scenes within 30 minute drive of Anaheim

Isnt "relaxation" and "crazy nightlife" kind of opposite  jk If you can overlook the "bros", the pompadours, the emos & the rockabillies, Huntington isnt that bad. But there are HELLA loads of fine women there (oh, he said him and the wife... :D jk again. anyways...)

Recommendations, mostly beach side some possibly touristy:
    in Orange County
    - Catalina Island (friends just went and they loved it)
    - Balboa Island
    - Newport Beach, Costa Mesa area. Laguna Beach for some pretension.
    in LA County
    - Santa Monica pier
    - Venice Beach pier
    - Redondo, Manhattan Beach area (more "normal people" laid back nightlife)

    Next to Anaheim:
    - Downtown Fullerton, vintage looking decent little area of restaurants & bars
    - Improv Comedy Club in Brea, in its tiny downtown

I need to get out myself more & check out San Diego and LA offerings...hope it helps
