I have been reading alot and hearing the radio alot about the Glen Rice trade and from all accounts, Glen Rice was SHOCKED that he got traded. Supposedly, his wife broke down in tears when she heard she was leaving NYC. Also, what is being reported is what everyone knows. That is, that after the Knicks lost in the 1st round, Spree said that there is no way that all three(meaning Houston, Rice and himself) can come back this year to split minutes at the same position. You guys all know that he feels that Spree was the one that got the ball rolling for the trade. Spree supposedly wants things to go back to the way it was back in 1999. Houston was never going anywhere if Spree had his way and that is why Rice is gone and Houston stayed. Supposedly, Spree went to management and explained to them that in order for the team to be successful, they need to go back to the type of play that got them into the finals back in 1999. Finally, the big news that I keep hearing is that Rice supposedly missed the first plane to New York on purpose because his wife was so upset. The rumor is that when they were driven to the airport by her brother, her brother was trying to talk Glen into keeping the apartment in the upper west side and to have his wife stay in it. Basically, make NYC his home permanently and just try and come back as much as possible to see his family. His wife wants no part of moving and I think that she will stay here and not go to Houston. This is the same woman that gave him advice on his jumpshot before the 1996 season and he blew up in 1997 with his best year. She has alot of influence, I guess. Conclusion? Spree is the man on the team. Period. Rices wife is the man on the Rice team. Period. And I don't think Glen was too happy to leave NYC. Hope this doesn't affect him on the court.
Spree may have been the man on the floor, but... I suspect that as would any married man, Rice will relish the time he has away from his b****-mouthed spouse There is something to be said for being in a different city from your attitude-impaired wife.
Well regardless of his wife being "upset", he's a Houston Rocket and he will be starting instead of being the 6th man he was in NY... He comes in here as a starter. Not playing behind guys anymore, he starts and can play a big role this season. No more getting 15-20 minutes, he's getting starters minutes... He's going to help this team... At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Houston keeps this team... Reason being that if any team doubles(zones), someone will be open and yes that even means Cato, who won't be farther than 8 feet away from the basket... other than Cato everyone right now on the Rockets team can shoot 25 feet out... even KT. Thats scary, don't you think...
TIburon - That's the whole point. Opposing defenses cannot afford to leave any of our starters for a double team - even Cato!. This team will be almost impossible to defend. The only defense that any team can rely on is us missing our shots (which won't be their fault, and is something they can't control), which also just became a helluva lot less likely... Run'n Gun will WORK.
I do like the trade. We are weak defensively but not like the Bucks...I hope. But, damn. Its gonna be raining points at the Compaq Center.
Not to worry. Her reaction is perfectly normal. She'll come around. Houston isn't NYC, but hey, NYC isn't Houston. Ya gots ta give it a chance.
Geez, they've lived in New York for one freaking year and she's breaking down!? You would think she had lived there for the past half century or something! What's up with this lady!?
If she's Puerto Rican, there is a big Puerto RIcan community in NYC. Moving that many times for a person is a lot.....She's gone from Miami, Charlotte, LA, NYC and now Houston. Cut the woman some slack!
They were just touching about this concern on 610 a.m. ...It is a concern that he has a history of being a complainer and may not be thrilled to be here.
Ah, I didn't think about the huge Puerto Rican community in New York, that's a good point. And moving 3 times in 29 months can also grate on someone. But breaking down into tears!? I hope she isn't having an emotional breakdown or anything. I can understand being upset or angry, but breaking down into tears kind of caught my attention.
Oh Gawd...the chick won't ever had to work another day in her life! What is she complaining about? She's just pissed that she won't be able to shop at all those uptown NY stores...Don't worry, she'll discover the Galleria and the Woodlands and quickly forget about New York
Rice's wife was crying because she and I had a little affair last time the Knicks came into town. To quote the Sherminator, "We did the wild thing all night long." She wanted to leave Glen for me, but I told her that I wasn't interested, and that I'm a player for life. Then I told the whiny b*tch to leave my apartment and tell her husband to play a little D.
YOU TOO!!?? i told the b**** that she better not hit my new jag with that old, busted plymouth duster she was sportin...
What if he fakes pain during his physical, and the trade is nullified? He didn't sound too confident on FOX last night about his foot being better. I bet his wife tells him to intentionally fail the physical.... Mine would......
Don't know how many times you all have moved, but moving sucks. The Rice's have now moved from FLA, to NC, to LA, to NY, to HOU all in the last 5 years...across the US twice, now that has to suck! Granted, I'm sure she wasn't behind the wheel of the UHaul, but they've been living out of a really big suitcase for a while now.
She may be scared of Rice being traded again before the season starts. I don't think it'll happen but sometimes a person's fears are irrational. She's been moving quite a bit.
After you've lived in NY, going anywhere else is like culture shock and you start feeling withdrawal of the city. Mrs. Rice's reactions are perfectly normal and to be expected
