Leonsis says he's not gonna trade Arenas or buy him out. Which could be total bs, who knows, but with that mega contract a buyout would be impossible and with Arenas' history of leg probelms I doubt many teams are interested.

Which makes me wonder, with the strong likelyhood of a certain point guard from Kentucky coming to the wizards, what do you do with Gilbert if you can't find anyone to trade him to? Do you move him to the shooting guard? Do you put Wall there? Does Arenas come in off the bench? Do you take Evan Turner first instead and have an Arenas-Turner backcourt? I really doubt the Wizards would be willing to pay him all that money to not play. What do you think they should do with Arenas?

No you keep Gilbert and dont draft John Wall, let a team with a legit chance to succeed get the great player. I hate the crap franchises of the NBA such as the Clippers and the Wizards. I just hope blake griffin can get off of the clippers roster soon so he can contribute to a real team.

John Wall on the sixers would be very nice.

i agree.i think the sixers need an upgrade over lou williams and i hate crap franchises too. the top pick in the draft gets waisted on a crappy team all the time!

anyways i think they trade gilbert to the knicks. knicks NEED a point guard as bad as hell.

With the exception of the few good years they had with Iverson and Larry Brown, how are the Sixers any better as a franchise than the Wizards? The Sixers have been garbage since the 80's except for a few seasons.

Maybe he can retire and spend the rest of his life with this guy.

Interesting so theres a debate about which is the better franchise.

The 76ers or the freaking washington wizards

    All time championships
    Washington Bullets/Wizards 1 Philidelphia 76ers 3

I really dont see how the wizards are a better franchise, the wizards have sucked throughout most of there recent history, and even the "success" they had the couple years (being bounced easily from the playoffs by there "rivals" the cavs) doesnt equal the success the sixers had during the iverson era.

How are the wizards the better franchise?

Put him at shooting guard. He's better at that position anyway.

The chance of the Wizards not drafting Wall for the sake of Gilbert is nil. They'll most likely try out Gilbert and Wall in the back court together. Then, when they realize it doesn't work, they'll just have to swallow Gilbert's contract.

The Sixers championships were in 1955, 1967, and 1983. The Bullets championship was in 1978. All of those championships are completely irrelevant to which is a better franchise now.

I didn't say the Wizards were a better franchise, I just said I don't think they're any worse. With the exception of three 48+ win seasons in the past 11 years, the Sixers have been just as bad as the Wizards since the early 90's. The Sixers have also gone through a lot more coaching changes in recent years than the Wizards.

However, the sixers were one of the original franchises in the league, the Wizards/Bullets aren't. I would hate to see Wall go to Philadelphia though, the franchise has gone from contender to a total mess. It's a disgrace to the league to see one of the first teams to be in such a total rut. Honestly, I don't think Wall could even help them out, as long as they have that huge Brand contract, and have Iguoldala and Dalembart rotting on that bad team, they will be bad.

Of course Leonsis is going to keep Arenas. He's a businessman. Let's look at this from a business perspective:

Say you own a significant amount of stock in Company X. It's a pretty solid company overall. Then, one day, a public relations disaster occurs and Company X's stock completely tanks. It's so bad that the stock price falls far lower than the intrinsic value of the company.

Would you sell the stock at far below Company X's true value? Especially if you weren't even getting cash back, but rather were getting back stock in a crappier company?

    Hell no.

I think the Wiz will draft Wall, play him at PG and move Arenas over to SG. Of course the Wizards are not going to be good next year. But that backcourt could become devastating, depending on how quickly Wall "gets it".

It would be a nice backcourt, assuming Arenas returns to his pre-injury form and Wall isn't a bust.

Your big assumption is that Gilbert is still worth something as a player. He's only played about 50 games in the last three years combined, so that's not a given. You also seem to be ignoring the length of his contract.
