iT SEEms Francis gets alL the bad wrap from you guys. Well maybe, you guys should look at his good qualities once in a while. He is a tripple double waiting to happen The only other 2 players that can make that claim is Kidd and Garnett Plus look at his endurance. He is been plying 40+ minutes virually every night
well he would be a "triple double waiting to happen" IF we didnt have such good rebounding on this team. Although he would need to get people to knock some shots down a bit more to get his assists up.
I agree... Steve absolutely has that in him. He's one of the best rebounding gaurds in the league... These last games he's played hard and with heart... and in the Memphis game he played great. TWO turnovers folks... some people are just never satisfied. This last game he had six assists... I would have liked to see him get a couple more, but you look at the stats and Mobley also had six assists. That is showing some ball movement. I didn't think we moved the ball as well in the Memphis game but were also playing against one of the top teams in steals in the league. That is certainly going to make you more timid with what passes you make. Add our piss poor shooting in the fourth and you can see where the tripple double didn't happen (or close to those numbers... I mean hell... add a few more rebounds and a few more assists and Stevie was there this last game. No-one could hit a shot in the fourth... That's not Steve's fault... ) it's a team game... and I think Steve is turning into a team player before my eyes... a mature player. Think what you will but if he leaves town you are going to have trouble. If I were him and reading this forum I would be packing my bags and saying f*ck you... go get Bibby... Without Francis on the floor it's the intensity that gets lost. Taking him out this last game was the turning point of the night. The way he pushes everyone to play hard. You might think if you get rid of him you will lose maybe a max of four turnovers a game (and that's if he never improves his current numbers...). What else do you give up and what do you gain in return? It's good to have you on my team Stevie... Keep working hard man.... I would hate to be a Rockets fan watching our team play against Francis. But like I said, some people are just never satisfied. They will tear you apart when you are doing great and they will be downright assholes behind the annonymity of the internet when you are not doing so hot. cheers, Brock
I agree, people consider Francis bad. I understand the argument, but you have to look at it this way. His assists are low, yes, but do most of the players hit the shots that he passes it to? Not really, thats why his assists are low in my opinion.
oh that was a good year... hakeem the dream = MVP no matter what the books say. Happy birthday Dream...
Sadly 'waiting' is the operative word. And allow me to increase your enjoyment of basketball by telling you about such NBA players as Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Shawn Marion, Lebron James, Lamar Odom, etc. It's a big world out there...
exactly. in the last few games we won, he [and the other players] turned it over a lot more. in this game, there were fewer TOs but i believe it was mainly because we couldn't really get the ball in when we needed it the most and the grizz were [even though we had the same number of shots] and because we weren't able to make our freethrows. If the shots were able to fall in like in the previous games we won, there would have been more assists. the main problem: grizz's tempo. that totally killed us.
I'd agree and say quit busting Steve's balls. I feel like Steve is making a better effort lately. Although his numbers are off I like how he's playing and adjusting to JVG. The biggest thing I noticed is that we won 3 in a row when Yao scored 20+, then he bombs yesterday.... The key word is consistency, the whole team needs to look it up.
Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...watch much TV as a kid? But about Francis: I'll probably have to bring this up in some other thread to have it noticed, but he's been doing a GREAT job on fast break defense. I've seen the dude break up numerous easy layups and passes just by flying in out of nowhere. That's where he gets most of his blocked shots, actually. It's one thing that doesn't make it into the stats column, so I'd like to say he's one of the best fast break defenders I've seen in a long time.
The TMNT reset definitely saved this thread... "When the evil shredder attacks, these turtle boys don't cut 'em no slack!" The old TMNT cartoons are supposed to be released on DVD pretty soon...
I couldn't agree less. I think it is fair to say that Steve's numbers have declined this season as he is trying to fit into Jeff VanGundy's system. I think the very fact that Jeff Van Gundy's system limits Francis' offensive game speaks volumes about how Van Gundy views Francis' potential on the offensive end of the court. If you believe a player like Francis can lead your team to the promised land, you build your team concept around the fast break and isolation, not the half court game that Van Gundy is preaching.
Right, and you totally ignore the fact that you have a 7'6 center with skills. Obviously Francis sucks since JVG is choosing not to ignore Yao and focus on iso's.
Raphael is cool, but rude Michaelangelo is a party dude Teenage Mutant Nija Turtles (4x) Turtles on the half shell Turtle power!
