Anyone here do <a href="http://www.geocaching.com">Geocaching</a>? I'm thinking of getting started -- looks like a lot of fun.

    It does looks quite interesting...

I was looking to get a handheld GPS device, do you have any recommendations?

The GT kids at our middle school take a GC field trip every semester. They go all over the area looking for stuff and they have set up a station near the school.

I don't have one yet, but I think I'm going to get the Garmin etrex Vista. It's probably overkill for Geocaching (a lot of people use the etrex Yellow), but I can really see usefulness for its features when I go on my big trip next year. Should be able to nab one on ebay for under $200.

Got my GPS two days ago and spent all day yesterday Geocaching. Found these:

    <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=27f4c10a-2a44-4635-beab-7f5659c1f1b0">Little Wimbeldon</a>
    <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=027991dd-a080-4693-869d-9741b2c4c53e">Area 51</a>
    <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=cd932ad3-101c-4ac5-ac3d-dcb277b3b8d9">Foreign Cache</a>
    <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=2425c5c2-fc47-4276-90f7-fc0af0f3f24f">Escape from Reality</a>.

Had a GREAT time doing it -- I'm going to look for a few more this afternoon on the way out to my folks' place. Anyone who's thinking of maybe trying this, you definitely should. Sometimes looking for the cache kind of sucks, especially when you're having a hard time finding it. But once you spot it, any irritation you've had with the mosquitos, or foliage, or anything is instantly dispelled, and you want to go for another.

If anyone wants to get started, or wants a caching partner <a href=mailto:sigemund@postmark.net>let me know</a>.
