The Sonics are not going to take our deadweight for GP, as much as we would like them to. Since YM and SF are untouchable, the only other two players of value we have is CM and EG. Well CM isn't half the player GP is and EG is either a potential star or a potential bust. Seattle would want both CM and EG, and when you look at GP's age, that might be too much. Either way, unless the Rockets throw in some picks there's no way they get GP without trading CM. My own opinion is that GP, SF, YM, JP, and EG would be a championship contender for at least the next three playoffs. Raven
I agree with this, I think we would have to give up more than Rice, Mo, and Moochie. Also to free up cap room. I think it would be worth giving up Cuttino for Payton. But to me that is almost an even trade execpt maybe throwing in a 2nd round draft pick or Cuttino and one more player like Rice or Taylor. I wouldn't want to give up Eddie though. Payton at the one and Steve at the two with Yao at center would be an awsome threesome.
to add to that, I don't think there would be enough room or chemistry to have Francis, Mobley and Payton
SOMETHING ELSE THAT WOULD WORK!! Considering that Gary Payton wants to stay in the west and Seattle wants to rebuild. I think this would be a good trade. Houston trades: C Kelvin Cato (4.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.9 minutes) SG Cuttino Mobley (18.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 41.8 minutes) SF Juaquin Hawkins (3.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 18.0 minutes) SF Terence Morris (3.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 14.3 minutes) Houston receives: PG Gary Payton (21.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 9.3 apg in 40.8 minutes) PG Peter Fehse (21.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 9.3 apg in 40.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: -8.4 ppg, -11.1 rpg, and +4.2 apg. Seattle trades: PG Gary Payton (21.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 9.3 apg in 40.8 minutes) PG Peter Fehse (21.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 9.3 apg in 40.8 minutes) Seattle receives: C Kelvin Cato (4.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 31 games) SG Cuttino Mobley (18.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 29 games) SF Juaquin Hawkins (3.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28 games) SF Terence Morris (3.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 20 games) Change in team outlook: +8.4 ppg, +11.1 rpg, and -4.2 apg Houston would benefit by getting Gary Payton and being finally able to move Francis to the 2. Seattle gets a decent shotblocker in Cato and a scorer in Mobley. They also receive Terence Morris, who is a decent defender. Cato and Mobley both have 3 years left and can be kept or later traded.
Yeah, I remember the days when Rudy T would give all sortsa love to GP and say how much he'd love to have Payton here in Houston.
THe Rockets wont win anything till we realise that (1)Franchise is not a Playmaker but a great Shooting Guard (2) Something must be done about the two slfish players on the Team.(3) Dribble Mania must end.
Sorry, I copied and pasted screwed up. I really think we should go after the glove. After tonite's game, i think we can really use his veteran leadership. I also agree with everyone else, GIVE YAO A REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
