In the aftermath, Karl, a cancer survivor after battling throat and neck cancer last spring, expressed disappointment in Garnett's action, telling the Denver Post: "If Kevin and I were close friends, I'd probably call him up and say, 'I don't think that's right.' But I also believe that competition makes us do things when we don't have our total mental morality in line." ... "I just went over and, I know there's some speculation [about what Garnett said], and I'm not going to get into it, you all know what I'm talking about," said Garnett. "I went up to him as a man and what I said is that I had nothing personal toward him nor any other cancer patient that is out there struggling and dealing with life situations. I wanted to say that to him, man to man. I was going to do it before the game, when the [shot] clocks and stuff was messed up [delaying the opening tipoff], but I wanted to get the game out of the way, and then approach him." The exchange was brief and Celtics coach Doc Rivers joined the duo. "He just came over and we talked, man to man, I appreciated that," Karl said. "I thought it was a classy gesture." http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=5901174
The only player I hate more in the NBA then KG is Lebron, but I will give him credit for this. He manned up and apologized.
Yeah KG's in my top 5 most hated players list. But this really was a solid move on his part. LeBron would never do something like this.
Why does everything have to be about LeBron? I'm sure LeBron would not have taken a shot at cancer patients too so he wouldn't have to do this.
Honestly, I didn't give a **** about him before the Decision. I thought he was the second best player in the NBA behind Kobe, and the most naturally gifted player I'd ever seen. The Decision made me hate him. Trust me, if you told me I'd ever hate another player more then KG I would have bet my entire bank account against it. I would have lost.
He's an amazingly gifted athlete (and I don't even think he gets more then 75% out of his talent then he should), but he's a scumbag. Acknowledge it and move on. Do you support Kobe?
How is he a scumbag? Because of the Decision? Really? Because he was cold and heartless towards some fans and the organization he worked for? I guess in my world, people are only given harsh labels like "scumbag" if they really do something awful to people. And sorry Cleveland, but I will never consider the "betrayal" of the Decision to be that awful. He didn't assault anyone. He didn't rape anyone. He didn't kill anyone. Acknowledge it and move on.
I could by a cynic and suggest that this was a calculated PR move, waiting until he could be seen talking to Karl in person on camera so that he'd be asked about it in the press conference and articles would be published about it the next day. After all, he could have called Karl earlier or met him before the game. But, I'm not a cynical person and I don't have anything against Garnett for calling someone a cancer patient anyway. So, I won't worry about it.
What does me supporting Kobe or not supporting Kobe have to do with me thinking bringing up LeBron in this thread was pointless?
I don't care about Cleveland. Reach for a different straw.. Read all the stuff that's come out on Lebron. When you finish whiping your mouth you willl realize your hero (much like many we support) is indeed a scumbag. You don't have to lie to kick it. Yopur world revolves around Lebron. It's why you made sure to take a little jab at Kobe in your response. What would you like me to acknowlege? Kobe is a ****ty person? Check., Lebron is a ****ty person? Check. Kobe is a much better player the Lebron? Check? Lebron should be the best player we've ever seen? Check. You would kill fot hte chance to be his personal fluffer? Check.
