Garage Door Opener

    so i am having issues with the 30 year old garage door opener. it still works, but the remote isn't very responsive. replaced the battery and not helping. is it possible to just replace the remote without replacing the actual opener? if not, is replacing the whole thing something i can do myself? i am fairly good with my hands. thanks.
