Got the game yesterday. Pretty good so far. They should start including some picks with the game. Took me forever to find mine For those who have already played this...how do you go back and re-play the song to learn it better? It started with 'Cant Get No..' - I tried that a few times and after a while it gave me enough points to continue the journey. I want to go back and play that first song again more but it only lets me select the next one...how do you go back? Also it would be nice if they could incorporate the controller into the guitar..like low E = X button and so on. It is kind of inconvenient to grab the control to select some things while holding the guitar. Maybe they will release some patches.
They included 2 Rocksmith branded ones with mine but I did get the entire package and not just the game. I guess they assume if you bought only the game you have everything you need on the guitar side already. But it would have been smart to just give out the picks since it's good, cheap marketing. If you go back to the main menu you can choose whatever song you want. And I totally agree that they should use the guitar to navigate. The tone cable is so good at picking up notes, that could have been so easy to implement.
Rocksmith, African art, bird surprises, and sleep apnea. <iframe width="273" height="205" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3IEkRQMF0RM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="273" height="205" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_jpFW8aj-ZQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="273" height="205" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TYNuZS6T9H4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I just finished playing for the first time. Rockband with a real guitar. Simply amazing. I've had more fun with the guitar in the last 2.5 hours than I have in the last 10 years. Hope theres plenty of dlc to come
I am still playing this slowly. Taking my time doing the techniques, riff repeaters and games to learn. One thing that I wish Ubisoft would update is the way the game loads when you get done with a certain section and select Replay. It would be nice not having to wait for it to load from scratch and having to to the tuner again.
It does have really annoying load times. I'm assuming that's something that can be fixed in a patch. You would think they would have known better by now. It's not a new platform.
so i've got an acoustic guitar i bought 4 years ago to learn how to play. i took it out of the closet to see if it had a jack. no jack. i guess this means i need to either buy a real guitar with a jack or buy bundle.
You could also buy a guitar pickup. But they're not cheap so unless you just have a real good acoustic guitar that you really want to play with, might be easier to just get the bundle. I got the bundle because I want my son to learn too and if he drops a $120 guitar I'm not going get mad over it.
You can also look on Craigslist and find an electric guitar for $50 - 70 I have seen some Squier Strats on there for $50. If you are a beginner you don't need anything fancy and since the game comes with the cable and the amp is built into the game all you need is an electric guitar.
I hope so. I mean tuning is important but you don't have to do it after every section  -- If they cut back on the tuning and also fix the 'Replay' option so it starts right away that would be great for those who like to repeat same sections for learning. Also I wish that they would remove the "lives" feature from the riff repeater. I want to practice until I choose to stop. It sucks to have to wait for it to re-load if you mess up and your lives run out.
I'm am slowly but surely getting better. Actually haven't played as much as I originally thought I would, but only because I don't want to completely destroy my fingers. Luckily, I can feel the callouses starting to set in, so I won't have to hold back as much from now on. Who else is playing on PS3? We should add each other so we can best each other's scores in the mini games. TricksForMoney
I got this on Friday and have really enjoyed it so far. The real test of how good it is will be if I'm still playing it a few months from now and if it helps me be able to play songs not in the game. The main thing that made me stop playing all of the other times I tried learning to play was getting frustrated that I couldn't keep up and it just didn't sound right. The variable difficulty helps to not get frustrated and all of the right effects are used so you know you have the right sound for any song. The biggest problems I've had with it so far are the loading times and learning a part of a song using the wrong technique and having to learn to play it a different way once more notes/chords are added in as you improve. That's one area where having an actual instructor would help a lot. I also have problems with the palm muting, it seems like I'm doing it right but the game says it's not, I think I just need more practice with it.
I struggled with them at first too because I was trying to make it too complicated based on the game's instructions. Just play the note as you normally would, and then lay your palm across all the strings right after. What I really struggle with are harmonics. Even when I get credit for doing one right, it doesn't sound as it should.
Just heard about this game over the weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE anything that gets kids (or adults!) to pick up a musical instrument and learn to play, even if it's just a video game. I hope this game is just the beginning. Need more kids playing instruments and starting bands!
