astros lose the series. sorry, you don't recover from this. one out away and lose it. you just don't recover. i hope they do and win this thing in game 6 but i'm not counting on it. in my lifetime they've blown it everytime they've had opportunities to win it. i love the stros but everytime they do this to us....heartbreak all over again.
Pujuls should have never gotten up...you should not walk Edmunds on 5 pitches...hell they werent even close pitches.... Lidge choked tonight, no doubt, he has been nails but he flat out choked. DD
Roy O will shut them down. We just need some runs. If not, Clemens will win. There's still gasping left before this choke is complete.
The thing that drives me nuts is this: this isn't an unlucky bounce, a bonehead error, or a bad call. That pitch is totally preventable. You either walk Pujols outright, or just don't give him anything to hit. Period. Nothing but balls in the dirt. We didn't make a baseball mistake. Garner, or Lidge, made a mental mistake. One that should never be made. You cant' make a rational argument for it. It was stupid. Unforgiveable.
Is there anyone here who didn't expect Albert to jack one then? I think the entire City of Houston expected him to connect.
Absolutely. I mean, it's impossible to recover from anything tough. 0-3, it's over. Down 5-1 in the 8th? Never can happen. Down 4-2 with the series on the line and 2 outs, no one on against the best closer in baseball? No way anyone could come back from that. If the team doesn't recover from a loss, no matter how tough, they are a weak, crappy team. Fortunately, teams are a bit tougher than fans.
I think choke is exactly correct. With the count 3-1 and Pujols on deck, you knew Edmonds was taking and he couldnt throw it down the middle. Complete choke job by Lidge.
it wasn't a bastball, but lidge may as well have just walked up and put it on a tee. and lidge was supposed to be the anti-wagner in big moments (and has been), and now he crushes us and biggio and bagwell again. i may not even watch most of game 6 b/c apparently they aren't meant to win when i watch. hopefully they pull it off.
Ok...thinking about it in a little better state of mind now that time has passed... this is the same Astros team as we've seen all year. They climbed out a 15-30 hole, they can win one out of two on the road. One thing I know for sure is Oswalt is a ****ing gamer. Bring on Wednesday.
Regardless, this series is just weird and twisted, I have never seen a series full of this many twists and turns, it's a dramatic script that is keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. IMO, Astros have to pull all the stops to win Game 6 (even if they have to use every single starting pitcher at their disposal). If this goes to Game 7, it's over, and it would be the biggest choke in history of baseball.
most of the guys on this team are mature enough to put this behind them and bring it in the next game. remember, last year we were up 3-2 going back to st. louis but we had pete munro starting or something. Oswalt is a totally different story if you ask me. still.........thats heartbreaking.
please lets not panic everybody this is a great team we are facing and we are the underdogs after all in this. after following our stros the entire season its been evident that we just cant and dont want anything the easy way but have earned everything the hard way. dont doubt this team because thousands who have have already been in the wrong. lets stay on the bandwagon and keep hope alive that things will turn our way.
I have never seen more premature celebration and jinx in my entire life! (sorry but I fear the jinx, have lived it too many times)
How much heartbreak can one city take? Honestly.. this isn't funny anymore. Not that is was ever funny, but it's starting to screw with my brain.
