Whoa whoa whoa WHOA!! That's the dulcet tones of the one the only legend H. John Benjamin! The guy is a voice-over LEGEND, I tell ya!!
I never really got into Futurama, it was okay but it wasnt that good compared to Simpsons or my favorite, King of the Hill. I believe King of the Hill is one of the greatest shows ever made, it's genius. KOTH is so subtle and down to earth. The show doesnt hold your hand and tell you when to laugh like other shows (Family Guy). I remember a while back some guy on another forum posted that he thought KOTH was boring and not funny and did not get the humor. Keep in mind, that this guy was from New York. So I guess KOTH is only funny or relatable to southerners or Texans? New Yorkers may not find it so funny.
I doubt that, i remember when i first watched KOTH i thought it was alright, not really funny and sort of bland and boring as well. Iv also had a couple of friends say the same thing, all from houston. Thats just how i think it seems to people sometimes at first when they're not into the show and don't watch it regulary. Then when i started watchin the serious on netflix i fell in love with the show, and it's now my favorit show of all time.
I recall my mother getting super-pissed that "this show" was poking fun at our roots. Started bland but the episode where Bobby, Hank AND Peggy all get hooked on cigarettes took it over the top into being a good show, IMO.
Futurama is probably my fav show ever. I like it even more than the Simpsons. In a purely comical sense, it's not as good as some of the other shows like SP or Adult Swim. I don't mean to sound sentimental, but there's so many times Futurama has made me cry. It is the only show where I feel better for having watched an episode. Not only is it entertaining, but its very moral too. Even Bender, being the asswipe he is, has his moments. The first 5 seasons should be up there with the first 8 Simpsons seasons. It's comedy with a message. It makes you laugh, but it makes you think and get that "I'm feeling this" vibe. This is the difference between Louis CK, as funny as he is, and the greats like Carlin and Hicks.
The pilot episode was awesome. I remember the second episode being such a let down when I first saw it (the constipation one if I remember right). The one that got me hooked was when they introduced Kahn.
Hank: are you Chinese or Japanese? Kahn: I'm Laos Hank: so.... are you chinese or japanese?:grin:
Bill: The ocean? Which ocean? Also liked when they introduce Cotton to him: "He's Japanese" "No he's not, he's Laotian. Ain't ya Mr. Kaaaaaaahn?"
