Gene Peterson said, and I think the quote is Accurate. "That is a HORSES**T CALL, a HORSES**T Call." It cost the Rockets home court against the Sonics, and during that series each team won all the games on it's home court. The funniest one for me was when Ralph Sampson decided to fight Jerry Schisting....Priceless. DaDakota
The Rockets mistook one of Cato's many afflictions, major and minor, that would keep him out of future games....as enthusiasm. Wow. $42,000,000 slobber, right there. KA-PA-YA!
I think they should promote Kato to mascot and trade Clutch or whoever his name is now for future considerations.
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30712 It involves Moochie and the word "backdoor". How can this NOT be considered the funniest?
Good pull A-Train. How about Rudy's explanation of bad basketball involving Cousing Billy and Uncle Joe <b>taking turns</b>. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?threadid=11843 <blockquote>"I thought we were playing family reunion basketball there for a while, where you give cousin Billy his turn and uncle Joe his turn and he's going to give you your turn," Tomjanovich said. "But we did get some stops and we scored a lot of points. We made big shots."</blockquote> and this one http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25098&highlight=uncle+joe <blockquote>"We got lax in the second quarter," Rudy said. "We started playing what I call a `family reunion game' -- let Uncle Joe get a shot.[TheFreak's comments: No Cousin Billy??] But after that we got our defense going and got our break going. After that, the dam broke as far as our shooting."</blockquote>
How about when one of the Top 50 greatest of all time, Mr. All-around player Scottie Pippen became a national crybaby. I laughed real hard and then yelled b*stard!!!!!
Charles Barkley gives then Grizzly Othella Harrington a wet willy while lining up to rebound free throws.
Funniest moment for me always had to be Barkley chasing the Denver 'Chicken Nugget' every time we played them. Was always a laugh.
I have a first and a second funny moment. First was, remember when Utah clock guy Wayne Kicken did not start the clock at the end of Game 4 of the 1994 West Finals, thus giving the Jazz an extra 10 seconds to try to tie or win the game. (Fortunatley the Rockets won it anyway). But Gene Peterson's radio call of that moment was the funniest thing I've heard about the Rockets, "THEY HAVENT STARTED THE CLOCK! THEY HAVENT STARTED THE CLOCK!!!!!!START THE CLOCK!! Man, that was priceless. I've never heard him anymore livid than that. AM 740 aired that audio replay the next day and the sports guys over there had a good laugh with it. 2nd was during the shortened 99 season (I think), when Barkley just toyed with that extremely tall stick-man Keith Closs at the Sports Arena in LA. Barkley just kept on egging him to come out of the paint to defend him and CB just kept hitting jumpers. And then on one play, Closs made an unbeleivable shot despite his lack of coordination, and that shot had Barkley laughing pretty hard and me too.
A couple I remember, that blown dunk Cato had that flew about 25 ft. in the air and dropped straight in and also when Walt Williams punched Shawn Bradley in the face.
A couple I remember. - Barkley throwing his mouthpiece to the ground. He might have also kicked it or stepped on it, I'm not sure. But then he just picks it back up and puts it back in his mouth without cleaning it off at all. - Shawn Marion trying to dunk on the wrong rim against the rocks. **edit** also the game this year when Mobes bit Kobe's arm. The biting itself was funny enough, but then Kobe gave him a look like "you're F***ing crazy!"
How about when Robert Horry missed a dunk and hung on the rim, then slammed it in with the other hand?
Speaking of Horry: Does anyone else think that Horry getting Calvin's daughter pregnant was funny? That sure was the talk of the day at the watercooler.
Not so much the impregnating part, but Calvin's attempts to call the game after. Bill : Monster Jam from Horry! That boy has sure come a long way from draft night, eh Calvin? Calvin : Um, yeah.
Kelvin Cato blowing a dunk so badly, it bounces 10 feet straight above the rim, and then goes in! Then Cato pretending like nothing special happened. "Off the heel of the rim, above the backboard, straight down through, nothin' but net." Just like those Bird and Jordan McDonald's commercials.
I remember a game against Portland back in '94, when Vernon Maxwell jumped into the 12th row to confront a fan that was heckeling him. That wasn't too funny because I think Mad Max ended up asaulting the fan, but the game was soooo bad that the TV announcers claimed the "Play of the Game" was Otis Thopre punching one of the Trailblazers in frustration, cuz the team had a miserable game that night !
