Anybody else watching this? Good game so far, both QB's look shaky as they are first time starters. I've been a Seminoles fan since I was a little kid, so it would be nice to finally see them beat Miami after losing every game in recent years. I know Manny is a Hurricane fan, I guess we all have our faults. It's 10-7 right now with FSU leading in the 3rd, game is on ABC. The Seminoles just blew an opportunity and I'm sure thats going to come back to bite them.
Anyone see Michael Irvin do his best "We must protect this house" rant to pump up the WRs? I thought he was going to pass out
Ignoring the low scores...this game has been very entertaining. Miami's defense is fast. And FSU's is not too slow either. Jeesh...what a great grab on 3rd and 19. 82 has been pulling this Miami drive out of the grave.
Winston (#74 for UM) is a potential draftee of the Texans at LT, he's been doing a pretty good job so far.. the the FSU pressure has been coming from delay's and LB crosses up the middle.
Wow, Miami returns the favor by not getting any points out of having the ball within the 5 yard line. I just hope the Noles can put together a couple of first downs here, but I'm sure it wont be that easy. What a game!!
Harrisment: You're an FSU fan. What are your thoughts on Jeff Bowden? Based on what I've seen tonight, he looks like he could be problematic for Xavier Lee's maturity.
HELL YES!! Great way to start off the year. As for Bowden, I think he goes through stretches where the playcalling is just horrible. It's been that way for years but a lot of the time the superior atheletes bail him out. I understand this was the first game with new QB's, so I can't fault him too much for today. If the offense doesn't really get going though at some point this year I think he is gone.
The only good news I can get out of this horsesh!t game was Miami can still win the Coastal division of the ACC and hopefully get to play this team again. I can guarantee you that the Noles do NOT want to play Miami in the ACC Championship Game. Of course, Miami has to beat Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and not lose to any BS teams like they did last year in North Carolina and Clemson. But this game reminded me a lot of the 1987 Fiesta Bowl game in which Miami lost to Penn State 14-10 despite being the clearly more superior team. Just like in that game, it is pretty clear that Miami outplayed FSU in every phase of the game except 2: special teams and the final score. I thought the key play to the entire game was 2nd and goal where Wright took the 9th (what a f*cking joke) sack of the game. You have got to throw that ball out of the endzone. It was obvious that Coker and Werner didn't even try to go for a touchdown on 3rd down when they called that swing pass to Santana's little brother (I don't think that play even got any positive yardage). I was like, "Hell, just go ahead and try kicking the field goal on 3rd down, Coker if you are going to call such a lameass play." I would MUCH rather have seen Miami lose 49-0 than like this. I mean I have to give FSU credit, they made plays when they had to (although it didn't seem like it was many) but I definitely was not impressed with them. It wouldn't surprise me to see them lose to some ACC team as well as Florida (they should still make it to the ACC Championship Game, though). Hopefully, Miami will get another shot at them and start another 6 game winning streak. In the meantime, they have to FIX their special teams and offensive line pass protection. Giving up 9 sacks is a f*cking joke.
You must have missed the NINE sacks allowed by the offensive line (most allowed in the history of Hurricane football).
I'm not so sure FSU would be worried about playing Miami again anymore than any other ACC team. I mean they did just beat them after getting absolutely nothing from their QB's all night. I agree though, almost the entire game it felt like Miami was dominating but they just couldn't come up with the big play when they needed it. Miami's QB looked good once he settled down, so I think he'll be solid. FSU's QB situation on the other hand doesn't look to bright. Hopefully Lee will get the shot to start and show what he can do rather than just giving him one series late in the game. I was really impressed with the pressure that the Noles were getting up front, but only time will tell if that was because the Canes OL troubles or the D line is just that good. Both teams have a lot to work on, and they will have to improve each week to even think about meeting again in the ACC championship. Hopefully they both get there because I'd love to see a rematch.
