I'm so tired of 2.1 on my Fascinate. How do I get froyo or even gingerbread on my Fascinate?

Yeah. I'm in the same boat. I want to put some brownies on my Sense, cuz I'm so tired of chocolate chip.

I can't wait for snickerdoodle to come out, but I might switch to cheesecake if they can get it out of beta.

Have you looked into Gelato to replace Froyo?

This has been pissing me off too. When I bought my Fascinate they had promised the update was coming in like a month or two but now its been nearly half a year and I haven't got anything. About to do the unofficial update, though I'm scared I'll screw something up and screw up my phone

    Hey guys,
I'm a (usually inactive, due to school) dev who also owns a Fascinate. Head on over to XDA or Android Central. They have cleaned up Froyo leaks from Samsung/Verizon. If you want to know more just PM me. I could even cook up something for you real quick if I have the time. One thing I should mention is that this will void your warranty unless you revert back to stock (which can be done fairly easily). I do have to say though, Froyo on my Fascinate makes this phone godly.

It's funny that I found other frustrated Fascinate users here. I've been fiddling with this phone for a couple months just to get it where I want it. Hardware is EXCELLENT, but Verizon/Samsung really ****ed up in the software department. Talk about half-assing it. And Verizon sold A LOT of people on the fact that an official Froyo update would be coming soon (all the way back in September!!! and it hasn't yet!).

I know what it feels llike man. I had an epic 4g that barely got updated last month . the dk28 leak I got was buggy so be careful but xda always has the best support.

Definitely never buying a Samsung phone after this, its pissed me off that much. Its like they released it then forgot about it, probably moved on to worrying about the next phone they release. Should have went with the Droid X or waited for a better phone

BTW, does froyo make it much faster?

Oh I'm with you on this one. Pathetic, the way they treat their cell phone customers. I mean, I own a Samsung TV and several hard drives from them as well, and support has been great. Why are they so bad with software for their wonderful phones?

Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend 2.2 Froyo. Like mentioned above, it's easy to get it done. You can choose a "stock" version or a "super clean" version right off the bat at either android central or xda. I recommend using the Odin3 method. It's easy BUT READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING. I put this in caps because bricking your phone is possible with Odin3 if THE USER does something wrong. The one thing you must remember is to use the PDA option at all times on Odin3 with the Fascinate.

If you don't want the Froyo goodness, and just want a better version of 2.1 Eclair, they have that as well...and it is pretty good.

Hope you enjoy the rebirth of your phone!

And remember to read about how to revert to stock Eclair in case you need to bring your phone back to Verizon for repair or something...so that you still have your warranty technically!

One more thing. I came FROM the Droid X. That thing is locked down (the boot loader is encrypted in purpose by those idiots at Motorola, hampering development for the community) and BLOATED.

I kinda wish I had waited past this generation of phones period. Hardware-wise the Fascinate is the best, though.

Yeah man, i hate SamSUCK after the whole galaxy s deal i went through. I had a Nexus One a long time ago and that had Froyo. 2.1 is okay but 2.2 is so much better. Streaming rockets game :)
When I was with Sprint, i got them to credit me for a whole month of service plus some extra stuff, just complain. Let them know they are resposible for their vendors action. Do it respectfully though of course, or you won't get anywhere.

Yeah, and boy did VZW crap it up. I'll post simple instructions (no more advanced than Samsung's) on how to upgrade to XDA's (impending) debloated version of this ED01 Froyo update. If I get a little time.
