I don't get it, it looks like somebody put a beer can down on Iran next to an editorial about health insurance?
As long as they leave my Afghan carpets alone, I think I can survive the horde. D&D. Impeach Goofus and His Puppeteer.
Ok, so the point is that Iran is spreading a hate across the Islamic world which is like an investation of insects. Seems reasonable for a political cartoon to me.
That makes no sense... the people of Iran are Persians, and from what I understand, the terrorists are predominantly Arabs. If anything, the horde is coming from Saudi.
no no! its only iran! nevermind that 15 of the 19 hijackers were saudi and that the saudis are big funders of terrorism and even have held telethons for hamas. nevermind that al-qaeda are sunni and iran is shia. nevermind that pakistan is harboring al-qaeda and even made a truce with them or that their intel service are made up of bin laden supporters or the fact that one of their generals was the 9/11 hijackers money man. we have a little thing called "double standards" you libpig! its all irans fault!
Amazing isn't it. The way so many Americans are lasered into blaming Iran for everything is sad. Sometimes I wonder if mass mind-control is at work. Reminds me of how some ignorant people still think Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11, like Dick Cheney.
Maybe a good number of American's see how destructive the Mullah's and their fundamental beliefs are to the world in general? I hope the people of Iran rise up and kick those mullahs back to the stone age where they belong. DD
Hmmmm, yes...let's see - you don't think it has anything to do with a country that calls for the destruction of Israel, is developing nuclear weapons, boasts about it, calls the Holocaust a hoax, calls America the great Satan, is fighting a proxy war against the U.S. in Iraq, funds Hezzbelloh and other extremist groups, and generally been the source of Islamic fundamentalism for the last 40 years. Reminds me how some ignorant people thought extremism and hate doesn't affect us until they woke up out of their sleep on 9/11.
good post, bringing up ISI Chief Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad and the $100k he sent to Mohammad Atta but that shouldnt really be a shocker, considering that it was the TSP (Terrorist State of Pakistan) that pushed its puppet Mullah Omar to invite bin laden and co. to afghanistan in the first place; and considering that it was the TSP that built the terrorists camps where al queda and countless other terrorist groups from around the world have trained also, in your post, if youre referring to the recent "truce agreement" between the TSP and al queda in Waziristan, dont forget to add that in addition to declaring a "cease-fire" (lol, as if they were ever fighting in the first place) and pulling out its troops from the area, the Pakistanis also gave money, arms, and ammunition to those people anyway, while all of that is disturbing, its nothing compared to news that many scientists in the Pakistani nuclear establishment (including AQ Khan, who ran the nuclear wal-mart) either had or actively sought ties with people like bin Laden and terror groups such as the Lashkar-e-Toiba
There's a big divide between the people's beliefs and the government in Iran. I'm not expert in this, but I was led to believe that the people don't exactly like the Mullahs. If you look at their recent elections, the fundamentalists are losing their grip on the government. Add that to a moderate appointed as head of cleric yesterday, Iran's government may make a shift in philosophy yet.
At the very least Iran should serve as an example to the religious right in our country as to why seperation of church and state is so important.
Certainly, but the Mullahs control the country and that is what the cartoon is referencing - the poison that they put out into the region, not the Iranian people.
Maybe the cartoon is suggesting that the radical Islam we're seeing originally came out of Iran in the 70's and 80's. ????? My understanding is it certainly was a hotbed for that sort of thought back then. And that way of thought SEEMS to have spread since then.
