Anyone catch this new documentary series on Showtime? It's set at UT Austin and follows 12 freshmen. First episode was pretty good. The 3 storylines this week were: Girl is being forced to be a CS major by her mean dad but she wants to do theater. Gets a 42 on an exam, freaks out and gets drunk. Semi-cute Guy from Sugar Land is feeling left out by his Indian friends from High School after they all arrive on campus. Attends party where he is the only white person there. Almost cries because he has to eat dinner alone. Misses his high school days. Complains about the macaroni at Jester. Gay guy from small town glad to be in college. Develops crush on his ***-hag who is also attracted to him. They flirt in a swimming pool. Attends meeting of gay student group but is not comfortable. Says he "doesn't know how to be gay" (he should have attended Michigan instead). Angsts over the possiblity of being bisexual. Tarot card reader warns him he may get a girl pregnant. Episode will repeat Monday night.
I watched it...I attend UT and it wasnt that interesting to me. I wish they would have chosen more interesting characters but o well. Im surprised they dont show anyone in a fraternity, but i bet it has to do with legal issues.
I saw the first episode a couple of months ago due to the fact that Kyle, the second one outlaw mentioned, was one of my best friends in high school. I was actually in it for a couple of seconds when they show the guy throwing up the milk; that was my truck they were sitting in watching him. Needless to say, I found Kyle's parts hysterical. The gay guy cracked me up, though I found the girl to be annoying. I was filmed by the camera crew five or six times, and nothing I know about was scripted. Give me a rib.
haha neil the gay guy is a cool guy. funny as hell. they are just normal people with normal problems. its the documentarians job to make their lives seem more cinematic and palatable for television but to tell you the truth, besides the gay part, who hasnt failed a hard test or dealt with expectations you feel you cant meet? ps im not gay ;p hanna the "***-hag" is just really excitable....some girls are just hyperactive. nice fun gal tho. shes from london so thats always interesting making fun of her accent....oh and she makes beds good not sure when claires going to be on but shes an awesome girl who has as big a passion for mike myers movies as me. said she didnt quite get along with alot of the other people on the show bc they werent very real. very understandable havent caught the show yet but i hope its good bc i dont really need any incite on being a student at UT bc im....a.....student......at ut. so yea some redundency issues. ill watch it for the friends though
If Showtime wants QAF ratings, they should encourage Neil to visit Hippy Hollow (for Last Splash), 4th. Street, West Mall, the Recreation Center, the campus tearooms, West Campus on Friday and Saturday nights...I could go on... University (Long Horn Pride) Blue
