Gary Payton Damon Jones Jaric D Stoudamire E Watson Did I leave anyone off thats worth talking about? 1. My question is how much are these players asking for? 2. What do you think their worth? 3. Who is the best fit for the Rockets? 4. Who do we have the best chance at?
If Stoudemire is old and losing a step, as some posters complain, Gary Payton is ancient. Marko Jaric and now Eric Watson are too pricy, judging from the "interest" of other teams. That leaves Damon Jones, who is interesting but not any better than Mike James. I'm surprised you left out Steve Blake, Jason Williams (either one) and Dan Dickau. BTW, what a backcourt that would make -- Dickau and Head.
I read somewhere that Jaric is looking for about $5 million a year. It was an article on either NBA.com or ESPN.com. I forget.
Dickau is the only one worth mentioning out of those three. Payton is old but if we cant get a good young PG I would be happy with him if he camehere for a min 1 year contract. In fact I would rather have him with that contract than DS for 5 yr 35 mill.
I read that Jones could be had for 3.5 million. It was just reporter spec but I would be happy if we could get him for that.
how about keith mcleod? he did a good job for the jazz last season..grahh I don't want damon jones coz he has no defense. Watson can defend but has no three pt shot.payton is an oldie.... damn! let's trust jvg and CD on what they're gonna do
I'd like to see Jaric come to rockets, but i doubt that'll happen. I think we need a little more size at the guards. Dan Dickau would be good too. Gonzaga guards are good
I'm interested in acquiring Jason Williams, assuming the comeback from his injuries is truthful. I also like Dan Dickau because of his ability to slice and dice defenses. Blake is a better point guard than you think. He was derailed from a starting position by Arenas, which is not an embarrassing development. Payton .... I don't think we can carry all his baggage. He may have a little left in his tank but not enough to last two or three seasons. Considering his volatile temperment, I would pass on him regardless. Jason Williams of the Grizzlies may be the most intriguing of all. Considering how he settled into form under Hubie Brown, I believe JVG could control him well enough to make him a very highly regarded PG.
Yeh I was just looking at his stats and I was surprised that is the last couple of years he seems to have gotten his turnovers under control. I havent got to see him playa whole lot. How is his shot selection and is he a free agent?
Without a controlling coach, J-Will jacks up too many ill-advised shots. However, he is still a fantastic passer. He is not a free agent or even a restricted free agent. However, the Grizz reportedly are anxious to get rid of him because he and Fratello already seem to have crossed swords. I think his contract is roughly $8M, but I'm not sure. We would have to trade for him, and I don't think the Grizz want to help us all that much. That said, CD has pulled off some amazing trades.
BTW, what a backcourt that would make -- Dickau and Head.
Unfortunately I do not think that the Rockets can handle both at the time.
Unfortunately I do not think that the Rockets can handle both at the time.
I bet the RPD could
Maybe we can do a sign and trade for Dan Dickau by giving the Hornets Luther Head. I'm sure Dickau would enjoy Head's job.
