Yup. We are going with Ming. No doubt about it. This dumb Chicago writer had nothing else to write about since the Finals are over, and he had a deadline looming. He probably has been looking at what other writers have written, like through the article links on www.yaomingmania.com, and had to write something based on what Cat said before even Cat knew what Yao was all about.

I don't have much respect for this writer, nor do I care about what Steve or Cat thinks we should draft. They are just thinking about running-and-gunning, and not about the half-court offense, where championships are won. Players should just play; GMs/Scouts/Coaches are the ones that are paid to scout and pick players.

This Chicago writer should stick with his Bull scoops, and leave the latest scoop for the Chronicle writers who have inside access to the Rockets and the players.

yaomingdude: We love having your opinion but it sounds like you are plugging your site every time you post something. If you want to put your site in your signature, fine. But don't post just to get a plug in there.

The answer is simple: you just draft Ming.

Listen, Cat and Odem can smoke their substance together in the offseason. We don't need Odem. Not a team kinda guy.

Mingo is smart, a team player, can shoot lights-out, and, did you not hear, he's 7'5" tall.

Imagine the egg on everyone's face if we trade the pick, and Mingo turns out to be the real-deal? The rockets would never live it down. Most analysist (guys who, I'm sure know a bit more about basketball talent than 99% of the people on this chat line) think he's gonna be good.

I just want to say that this board can be really really single sided. There are many many aspects to drafting #1 and the management is goin to have to consider them all. Also, Ming isn't going to guard Shaq and if he does he won't do it well. This guy will play a similar style of ball as Dirk. I'm not anti Ming anymore but he is not the only person in the draft. Just trust that CD and Rudy will make the right choices and quit makin trade requests (cause they probably won't come true anyway) and quit hating on Steve and Cat (they are entitled to their opinions too) and quit talkin bout Ming like he is the next Hakeem (because we don't know) lets just let it play out. Rudy said this is the most important offseason since Hakeem so lets just see how it goes. We can hate this time next year

I just learned from the CDC that there's a new bug spreading through BBS. It's called MingandsomeJVplayerscanwinusachampionship disease. Symptoms include hallucinations of Yao Ming becoming the greatest player ever in his first year, intense hatred of and constant b****ing about current Rockets stars Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley, and the belief that we could go all the way in Ming's first year if we dump Francis and get Kenny Smith to play again and trade Mobley for an inferior shooting guard (Brent Barry) who makes more money. In it's latter stages, the infected victims bash any talk of trading the #1 pick and spewing of fallacies about any players mentioned in trade discussion. Example: "Odom sucks, he's not a team player!" Truth: Odom career #'s-16 ppg 5 apg 7rpg. Seriously guys, hate the trade, but don't hate the player. Let's step back into the realm of reality and try to have intelligent basketball conversation. There aren't too many 6 10 220lbs SF who can average 5 apg. Those kind of numbers do make him a team player imo. The weed problem will pass, the guy isn't an idiot. Considering the lack of talent at Center, Ming is definately the smart choice, but next year, a huge amount of people on this board are going to wish that we had Odom as well.

By the way, what's up with the Junior College joke. Last time I checked, Steve was working hard on getting his degree from Maryland in Criminal Psychology. It's not the usual college player degree (General Studies and Kinesiology). Maybe Steve and Shaq can hook up when they retire and start a Private Detective firm. Man, that would make for some interesting television.

Oski, just because people are excited about drafting Ming doesn't mean MOST of us think he is the next Hakeem. We have just been starved for some decent center play for about 4 yrs (Dream was a shadow of himself the last couple of years). As far as bashing Steve and Mobley, I don't think just because someone states that they think Steve or Cat need to improve in certain areas they are bashing them. I just love my team and want it to succeed, all of the blind loyalty out there is commendable, but won't help us get into the playoffs.

I didn't accuse everybody, I just made up a profile that some people on this board actually fit into. As for blind loyalty, it has no affect on the team, so I don't see how you can say it won't get us into the playoffs. How does nitpicking what these guys do on the court help get us to the playoffs? What we talk about here has no affect on the team, but if people were a little more loyal, and they went to the games, that can change things. Imagine how much better the Rockets would play if they had some fans in the seats cheering for them? I think a loud energetic crowd could have helped this team win some of the close games that they lost in the last couple of seconds. What really bothers me about the Steve and Cat bashing, is the obsession some people have in always knocking them down. These guys are freakin human, so of course they aren't perfect and have problems in their game. I don't care about people saying that Cat needs to improve his shot selection or that Francis should work on upping his assists and cutting down his turnovers because those are things that they can work on and probably do. What Irks me is when people just say they suck and that we should trade them. When you point out to those people that Steve and Cat are both top 20 players in the league who don't get payed as much as similar players and that there's no way we could get equal value back, they just tell you to shut up and quit being loyal:confused:

this thread is dumb. more than likely ming won't even turn out to be close to as good as franics and to think that francis is scared someone will take over his spot as the best players on this team is crazy. personally i would much rather have odom and the #8 and/or #12 over Ming, but i doubt steve francis has any influence on the decesion on whether or not this happens.

I just can't wait for those "rumors" that it was evil Steve all along who facillitated Dream's eventual trade to Toronto. Because after all, Mobes was gonna goto Toronto. So it's really ripe for those two evil buds to make Toronto a staging point for their master plan to ruin the Rockets. Cat and Steve traded away our greatest franchise player!

Gee, it only took me two minutes to type this "news" outta my ass.

quite frankly, i just wanted some feedback on what i read on cc.net that was posted by clutch (an article that was written by a chicago writer). i, for one, did not read the part about it being from a chicago writer. i was just asking for some feedback as politely as i could. if the thread is dumb, don't read it. case closed.
