Your bias is apparent, and that is ok....we cut for our players too. Who mentioned Brand anyway, but you? Stick to the topic. But I guess I would be stirring up trouble too at the Bulls site if an event had occurred like this to a Bulls player (providing the Bulls were any good), my team's record was TERRIBLE, there was no light at the end of the tunnel, and my team was the perverbial doormat of the weaker conference in the NBA. But, luckily, that's not the case with Houston. No, on second thought, I wouldn't. Let's not talk about class in here again...agreed gettinbranded? ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Ya know gettingbranded really means pain. Like the pain you will experience when you realize Brand is not getting promoted by anyone but you until he leaves the Bulls in 2 more years. Your organization is in the pits, only another coming of Jordan can save you. bye bye Brand. So, you think Fizer can fill his shoes....ROFLMAO!!
Gettingbranded, it wasn't Brand's choice to "share" the ROY. Look at the stats, Steve's stats were just as gaudy as Elton's. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Umm... what evidence do you have to support this besides draft night? One mistake doesn't make anyone a punk for life. Stevie is one of the nicest players on the team, does as much community work as anyone, and has carried himself with class and dignity as long as he's been a Rocket. You don't see Steve play like we do, you don't know how he conducts himself, and you definitely don't know about all the community service he does. I don't think you need to be the judge of our players on whether or not they are punks. HAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm still laughing over that one. Good luck finding any fan outside of Chicago who thinks Elton is anywhere close to Steve's level... you know who really won the ROY last year, and so does everyone not a Bulls fan. You Bulls fans can enjoy those fantasies if you want though... of course when you win about 10 games a year, fantasizing is about the best thing you can do! So I can't blame you. As for the true class act part, in two years of watching the two players I have not seen one shred of evidence that even remotely makes me think Brand has more class than Stevie. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." In our previous episode... In the 1st 2 minutes of the 1st game of the Conference Finals, Mr. Neighborhood still has his jockstrap on as he bull-rushes Hakeem with two shoulders into Dream's sternum. Now we are talking about a finals MVP, a ring, Defensive Player of the Year, perennial All-Defense....yes, we are talking about the Dream with 2 fouls in 2 minutes, and Rudy must now put him on the bench. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! Similar to Jamcracker's suggestion for last night, Rudy runs out onto the court and takes a T.......but, that's not quite enough. He must make his point in front of Bill Walton, Bob Costas, Stern and the viewing audience. Mr. Admiral Linen *cannot* get away with the bull-rush to foul out dream like he can against Osterizer. Rudy demands...DEMANDS another technical. Rudy gets tossed!!!! Admiral Lost Linen quickly gets two fouls, and he sits. Start-over. The real Game is on...and Game over. The rest is history.
gettinbranded: if Brand were anywhere near Francis' level, the Bulls would win more. End of story. No matter HOW bad the rest of the team is, if Brand was even a VERY GOOD PF, he would have carried them through more wins than he has. Sorry. Someday he'll average 15 and 9 for a playoff team. Not Chicago. Francis, on the other hand, will probably be the best PG in the league in two years. Don't believe me? Look at the Rockets... they're 8 games above 500 in his second season. Other extremely talented players? Just Mobley. And trust me, Mobley ain't 40 games better than Elton Brand. That's Steve Francis and Mobley combined. The truth is, fans LIKE TO SEE jubiliation. We want to know when our players are happy. It makes the game fun. There's no point in penalizing a player for that. If there's something malicious, a la Wallace, T him up. If he's happy because he just made a MONSTROUS dunk... let him do it. The fans'll love it... and even the other team doesn't mind. If you want to make the NBA more boring than it already is, go ahead. That call was frickin' ridiculous. Even the ESPN sportscenter crew called it "pure garbage." ------------------ Boston College - Big East -East Division Regular Season Champs Worst to First in 2001!
I'm not necessarily saying Brand isn't a good player. 20/10 in the NBA is a feat. My problem is with gettingbranded saying Francis isn't very good and isn't on the same level as Brand. I'm not sure Francis is actually better, but he's definitely as good. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? gr8-1: dang it, I realize Brand has great stats... but his team doesn't win AT ALL. Take away Brand, and put Francis on that team... don't you think they win more? I'd bet there record would be 5-10 games better right now if they traded places. ------------------ Boston College - Big East -East Division Regular Season Champs Worst to First in 2001!
First off, all of us know that that call was complete garbage and probably the worst call that most of us have ever seen. The only other calls or no-calls I think are even comparable to that are when Clyde got tossed by O'Donnell and on Stockton's heartwrenching last shot in the Western conference finals...If you do not remember, on the inbounds for that shot Malone set a pick on one of our players(can't remember who), but it was more of a bearhug than a pick. That is why Stockton was so wide open on that shot. Those are probably the only two times I've gotten madder than I was last night after the ejection. The more I kept watching the game, the more mad I got...not only at the refs, but at our players. I mean, I guess you can't blame them though, they were in one of the toughest places to play in the NBA, but I expected our players to get ticked off to some extent. The only players I saw show their anger on the court was KT, who made some nice aggresive moves to the basket, and Cato...but Cato didn't use his anger in his play by blocking shots and rebounding, he just kept slamming the ball down or throwing it against the goal. That was pathetic. I was really hoping that they would get mad and make a serious run at the Kings, but it never happened. I'm not saying I expected them to win after that, I just wanted them to show a little more heart on the floor. But that is not the reason why we lost...we were SCREWED of course, and the Kings were in some kind of zone shooting the ball. It would have been tough to pull it out even with Steve, but I believed they could do it up until right after he was thrown out. By the end of the 3rd,I wasalmost laughing at the horrible calls and no-calls they were making...it was an absolute joke. While I do not support the refs making "make-up calls", sometimes they are due when they know they've made a terrible call on the other end so they must be a little strict with the other team...but the only attempt to make-up for the ejection was the double-dribble call on Williams on what might have been a foul on us instead. After this they even made some more bad calls on us which I do not care to review. Truly pathetic. ------------------
I hope Steve keeps doing what he needs to do, except yell louder and dunk harder!!! Damn those idiot refs!!! ------------------ Cuttino: When you have thousands of people telling you, 'You can do it, you can do it,' it helps you out an awful lot.
Since when did you have to cuss at or physically threaten a ref to get a technical? Since when did having explosive skills give you the right to get away with intimidation and trash talk? Some of you are so biased that you really believe some of the stupid things you say about these refs. Every Rocket with the exception of Anderson and KT spends way too much time talking to the refs. If Steve is as innocent as you claim then why is he second in the league in technicals? I guess Rasheed is just misunderstood as well. There must be a conspiracy brewing here. ------------------ Why is Gonzaga always given a double digit seed? Just move them to the Sweet 16 where they belong and let them play from there.

I'm sorry to keep this topic alive, but I didn't get to see the game and the a-holes at ESPN won't show it. What was Rudy's reaction to the call? I keep imagining three assistant coaches and maybe Kelvin having to hold him down after that one. Does anyone know? ------------------ "There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. Nope. Rudy showed absolutely no emotion. It was very surprising. Steve paused when he blew the whistle, gave the ref and quiet, subtle "what-did-I-do" look, and walked to the bench. Duobled over with his hands on his knees looking at the ref, he looked like the air was knocked completely out of him. Keith Jones and a couple othetrs had a hand on his back supporting him, and then he just walked to the locker room with his head down. No comments, no nothing. I hope he comes out fired up and gets a career high. ------------------ Watch Cat's Corner every Sunday night on Fox 26 news at 9! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROCKETS!
