If the NBA is wondering why attendance and overall interest in the NBA is down, they should look at stuff like that and get the clue. Fans come to see the superstars, and when refs have the ability to pull stuff like that, over a guy innocently celebrating a good play, and they allow it, they shouldn't complain about attendance. Something needs to be done, because too many times refs determine the outcomes of games and that will drive the PAYING fans away...

That was the worse call I have ever seen in all my years, whether it was his first tech or second!!!

The nba is truly in trouble if the refs start calling techs on plays like the one Steve got ejected on. It would suck to watch the league then. Steve was just showing some emotion.

Only the Jack Nies/Clyde Drexler ejection against Phoenix in the playoffs was worse. I watch a lot of ball outside of the Rockets, but those two were by far the worst I've ever seen.

You just know these referees are on a serious power trip! Damn, I wish I had my NBA League Pass back so I could see if these referees are just as horrible with other teams. Francis didn't do JACK(!!) to get that 2nd technical foul. What really sent me over the edge, though, was when Divac charged into Cato, made the basket, and nothing was called. MFS, I thought I was gonna bust a lung I screamed so loud!

Hey, I know the referees didn't have anything to do with the great first quarter of shooting the Kings had, but the referees did take away our best shot at winning when they ejected Francis. I'm proud of the Rockets for not rolling over tonight!!

Rudy's got to do something to make a point after Francis gets ejected.

Maybe he should've immediately called a timeout and pulled all his players. You wanna pull something like that, fine, see how you like watching scrubs play. If we're gonna get stuff like that called, screw you, no NBA quality basketball for you tonight.

I thought Rudy should've at least run onto the floor for a T himself, if not an ejection. Rudy's gotta make a point when the refs steal a game.

Not only was that one of the worst calls EVER, but instead of giving a ton of make-up calls (which still wouldn't make-up for it) they go on to make at least 10 bad calls against us as the game progress. I knew from the get-go that we'd have to play the refs and the kings, but this was ridiculous!

I love what Rudy did tonight. He used this "production" (it wasn't a game) as an opportunity to develop, and encourage his rookies and bench warmers. No matter what, the Rockets are still 38-30, and will surely win their next 5-6 games, out of anger alone. I do wish he had gone crazy, but what good would that have done. The Rockets were not going to win after the ejection, so there was no need to fire them up. He did the professional thing. Meanwhile, the entire Kings organization, including their pet referees, were mere amateurs.

ZRB - Good point. I was wondering why Rudy wasn't foaming at the mouth, why he didn't jump out on the floor and attack that ref, why the rest of the Rocks didn't walk off the floor in protest...

He really showed his professionalism tonight. I guess it's easy to forget that in the moment. And no one even had to restrain him.

"Was it the refs that Rudy was criticizing last week?"

Nope. An entirely different crew of Francis hatas were officiating tonight.

    Screw professionalism. Make a point.

Once Francis is ejected, our chance of winning is severely dimished (i.e. nil). Rudy's gotta take that T. Take that ejection. You can't throw my boy out like that.

Maybe the refs forgot Steve already had one T?!?

I would have preferred that the entire team walked off the court. Imagine the stories in the news after that.
On a side note, what would happen if a team was to do that? NBA experts?

Exactly. Rudy has got to make a point. Pull all the starters and put the scrubs in. Maybe Rudy just throws down his clipboard and walks into the lockerroom.

I don't think it was Jack Nies, I believe it was Jake O'Donnell. He never worked another NBA game as far as I know.

The Francis call was bush league but it's all part of Steve's growing process. He'll learn in the future not to get techs like the first one unless he's trying to pump up his team or prove a point. As bad as the 2nd tech was, the first tech was just really stupid in a game so important.

Why is Gonzaga always given a double digit seed? Just move them to the Sweet 16 where they belong and let them play from there.

The team would have been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and Rudy T would have been suspended for several games - Der Fuhrer Stern lives for such moments.
