here me out here, i know this sounds dumb, but i think van gundy should try mobley the 1 and francis the two. When mobley first came to houston that's what he played to we know he can play the point. Van gundy would have to make mobley play right and maybe with his style he could. If he starts jacking up shots he could just bench him for a while. Francis would get more shots and opportunities to create with more than one person touching the ball.
well, they should draft a pg or trade for one because something has to change with mobley if houston wants to develope yao
So we should take more shots away from Mobley, and give them to Francis, who is already taking the most shots on the team, and is not as good a shooter as Mobley or Yao?
This is one of the most ____________ ideas I have ever read. Let's play mad libs... looking for an adjective here. Fill in the blank yourself.
It's been about 20 years since I've done a Madlib but shouldn't you ask for the adjectives before giving us the sentance? Asinine is the most pleasent one I can come up with but I've already used it.
Greg M, you are absolutely correct! Here's what I should have posted: Clutch Mad Libs: Please write down a word for each of the following. When this post dies down, I will post the actual paragraph where you can fill in your own word choices. 1. (Adjective) 2. (Verb) 3. (Adjective) coon, I really don't mean to rain on your opinion, but it's really a bad idea. I could write 5 pages to elaborate, but I'll leave it like this.
First of all, if Francis were to be moved to the 2 spot, Mobley would not be the pg. Second, I think putting Francis at any other spot than the 1 is just going to create controversy. Francis has said that all he wants to do is be the leader of this team, which is a 1's job. Instead of moving Francis, I think JVG should develope him and try to change his attitude of shoot first.
and late in the year, when the going got tough, Francis got going. He said that he wouldn't mind or would like to play some 2. If your alleged floor leader is either questioning his own ability to distribute teh ball or, probably more appropriately, the suitability of that role for his skill set, then you probably need to take a damn hard look at making a change.
Macbeth had a great thread about this subject not too long ago. I am of the opinion that moving SF to the 2 is a mistake. In my eyes, you either keep him at the 1 or you tade him. Alot of people try to compare this move to Iverson's move a few years ago. Yet, rarely is it realized that the games of Iverson and Francis are more different than similar. Iverson, while he can still create his own shot, realizes alot on picks to get him free and shooting off of those picks (Philly picks people to death when he is on the court). Steve is not this type of player. Steve likes to create his own shot off the dribble and based on my time watching him play, doesnt seem to be very effective shooting off of picks (hasnt tried a whole lot regardless). To try and turn Steve into an off the ball, off the pick shooter/scorer is no where near maximizing his ability. Steve needs touches to be effective. He has to have the ball in his hands. Iverson is almost able to play the 2 because he is a good defender. Steve isnt. If the decision has to be made to move Steve to the 2, personally, I would rather keep Mobley at the 2 and trade Steve for the type of PG we want.
Francis will never be moved to the two spot. He either "gets it" or he's shipped. I for one hope he "gets it" in a hurry.
