That's what I was thinking but I doubt Hakeem is interested in becoming a coach rather than just helping Yao out on the side.
WWWhhhaaaattt??? Who's going to hold the clipboard? Clipboards don't just hold themselves? I suppose Kareem is already taken isn't he?
I know some of you are glad Ewing is gone, but don't swallow your food yet. He's only resigning to become our backup C.
I remember watching a game where you could see Ewing watching the games for fans they have during timeouts while everyone else (including assistant coaches) are in the huddle.
Very well said dfw! time to move on folks... we shouldn't be worrying about our assistant coaching staff...
(1) Correct, we should be worrying about the head coach (2) One down and one to go... Thus ends the Mr. Van Gundy portion of this thread. To those who think Yao "doesn't need a big man coach," everybody can use the help, and does things they don't notice and others can't easily see. Tiger Woods may be the best golfer in the history of the sport, but he still has a swing coach.
Good riddance. I was never comfortable with him on the bench. Just couldn't stand seeing him work for this organization. Only Karla would have been worse, IMO.
Erm.. leave, I mean. Sorry for the double post, seems I can't spot my spelling mistakes before posting and I can't edit my posts after.
Why does everyone feel the need to bring in a personal mentor to teach him the big man position? Look folks, Yao's a big boy these days okay- he doesn't need anymore advice, theories, teachings, corny-ass inspirational quotes from hall of fame players, everything is up to Yao now. If he still doesn't understand how to play the center position by now, then dudes got issues. And so long, Patrick, you were as useful to us as were the French during WW2.
Anyone else wonder if *maybe* Ewing resigned because he wants to move up the coaching ladder and feels he's risking a resume blemish by staying in Houston if JVG and his staff are dismissed midseason? Evan
Wasn't Tom Thibodeau the guy who works with Yao during the past season anyway? I expect him to keep that job, he seems to have done well.
