Put me on the "I want Wells back" bandwagon. The guy is an offensive talent and has proven it over and over. I am not willing to hold last years offensive stats against any Rocket considering who was coaching them.
Who said he was? Oh, I get it...you really srtuggle with analogies...guess I'll have to type slower for some posters.
It's a terrible analogy. JVG would not have done that with an established franchise player. You don't treat newly signed role players with a questionable attitude the same as franchise players, for obvious reasons.
Van Gundy treats players with a different set of rules? Really? You think he'd admit to it? How some of you totally missed the point of a 4 paragraph post to fixate on an analogy only demonstrates how focused you are on VG's side of the Wells issue. Never mind...
Bonzi is ego driven and will most likely opt out because he overvalues himself like alot of the posters here. If he does no one will give him anymore than what we gave him last year if even that much. He is a lazy unmotivated player with an enormous ego. His only chance to continue his career is to not opt out and hope under Adelman he can revive it. I personally hope he does opt out.
Who knows. But every single coach does it, whether they want to admit it or not. I was responding to the following one sentence post, not your 4-paragraph post: "Who said he was? Oh, I get it...you really srtuggle with analogies...guess I'll have to type slower for some posters." The analogy, in this case, was a bad one.
You act as if Bonzi is some un-proven rookie. Bonzi is a proven veteran that has had some signifigant level of success everywhere he has gone with the lone exception of here...under JVG. Is Bonzi, Dream? No but then again who the hell is. Is Bonzi a player that almost single handedly beat the Spurs last year in the play-offs and someone that has been a terriffic offensive option and damn good rebounder throughout his career? Hell yes.
No, the point you made was that Bonzi was a proven talent that JVG didn't agree with as far as how to condition. And then you said, well if he had been Dream yall would have been asking for JVG's head. Well that analogy makes no sense.. are you saying that Bonzi deserves the same treatment as what we would expect given to Dream? Because that is how you wrote it. Bonzi is a talented mid-level player... Dream was a superstar HOF'er... there's a big freaking difference about how they are treated. Read your post again. Personally I have said it before... I hope Bonzi does come back. I think under Adelman he will work harder... especially if his agent is smart and says make this your contract season and we won't let you get screwed over this time.
He was unproven in our system. You and I know that JVG did not have a flexible offensive system. He obviously didn't think Bonzi was a great fit on the team, and that he likely woudn't have the same success here as he did in Sacramento. Eh, he's been a decent offensive option. He played out of his mind against San Antonio; the stars aligned perfectly for him that week. There were no guarantees that he'd be an effective offensive player in JVG's system. Fault our offense for that, if you like. I'll just say that my expectations for Bonzi were never very high, so from that perspective I didn't have much of a problem with how JVG treated him. I think he pretty much got what he deserved, and he failed to capitalize on the opportunities given to him.
Thats great to hear, but its a show me league, and if he wants the big bucks, he needs to come back for that optio and lpay his a$$ offf and prove to us he still as it, before we give the c.r.e.a.m. I hope we don't give em a big contract this offseason. He needs to show us somethin for a whole season and be consistent.
I agree with you DD. I can't believe I said that!!!! Anyway, Bonzi said he wants to be with the Rockets next year. I don't have a problem with that. If he plays, he can help us. If he had been in shape to play this year, we would be playing in San Antonio this week and probably in the NBA finals the week after next. We would be praising everyone from Les on down-that includes JVG- and the off season would be rosey. However he wasn't. So here's the deal, Bonzi. You want to be a Rocket? PROVE IT!! You already are under contract with the Rockets. Don't opt out and you are still a Rocket. If you opt out, you've proved you are a LIEING fat ass and we don't waste any more money on you. The ball's in your court, Bonzi. Are you able to play with it?
did you see the word significant in my post? significant costs a lot of money. and we don't have that. don't have it now and won't have after the offseason.
we have the MLE and potential trades. you never know. we pulled t-mac out of our a$$ basically. we're not getting a superstar but we can pull an impact player certainly.
