Yeah, it seems like people who are Family Guy fans only are always the quickest to try and put down another show. 3 people say they really like Futurama and one guys quickly jumps to put it down. Futurama was treated worse by Fox than Family Guy was. They would put the new season in the middle of football season so that whole episodes couldn't even be viewed after long running games. With all that going against it, it still managed to last 5 seasons before getting cancelled. Another quote from last night's ep btw. The Simpsons was okay, imo. Maybe things just get repetitive after a while. As for Futurama vs. Family guy, why even fight? They're both great shows in their own ways. Family Guy DVD sales were off the charts the same way Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery took off. Nobody watched Famliy Guy (except for a few like me- the Narnia joke got me good) when it was on the air, so it only lasted 3 seasons. It slowly became popular. As for Futurama, it lasted 5 seasons, and they're still releasing DVDs. It's different kinds of success. As for last night's episode. Well, I'm just happy Family Guy is back on the air. Maybe they were trying to be too racy. Probably the most daring episode in reference to gay jokes and Christian jokes next to the 'When you wish upon a Weinstein' episode (which didn't even make it to original airing and even when it was finally aired on Cartoon Network it was edited). I think it was a "got you biotches" type episode, like we're back on the air baby and we can do anything. I hope that attitude doesn't go on forever. What made Family Guy great was not only the writing and characters, but the tight rope it walked between edgy humour and too much over the top humour. Last night was too much over the top, but there was still some great lines like the opening, the Archie stuff, Brian and Stewie, the Upsidedown face remark and look. You also have to consider that the budget of old Family Guy episodes was $1 Million Dollars, and now it's $500,000. So there's less money to pay for copyrighted stuff to make fun of. And I know most of you guys probably don't watch, but King of the Hill was great last night. That series has been going strong since 1996 I think, so that's like 9 Seasons! It really started getting good from Season 2, and now they're about to release the Season 4 DVD. Woohoo!
yea, i was surprised that they didnt really tone down the show. was surpised with the 2 and 1/2 men where the guy was literally cut in half, having alchohol on school grounds, talk about coke being in a locker, the whole "only gay guys wouldnt want to go to war" joke, and numerous other things. still, i think the beginning was the best start of any show in ages. Plus Stewie's reaction when he Brian side "It has literally turned him upside down.. FACE" and Stewie's reaction was PRICELESS. Plus the whole Benji reference was funny as hell. Can someone explain the guy at the end? The one that was "its nice to be back America" then walks off? I know he was from a previous episode, just forgot which one.

ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy" each drew their second-biggest audiences of the season, and the CBS movie "Riding the Bus with My Sister" also performed well. It was "Family Guy," though, that provided the most eye-catching numbers of the night. The show scored a strong 5.7 rating among adults 18-49 -- second to "Housewives" and more than double FOX's season average (2.5) for the half-hour. It even beat the ABC hit among two of the demographics that helped resurrect "Family Guy," teenagers and men 18-34. All this for a show that averaged fewer than 5 million viewers per week in its most recent season on FOX, 2001-02. Strong ratings for repeats on Cartoon Network and DVD sales helped convince FOX to put the series back into production. The network's other animated offerings posted decent numbers as well. Speaking of FOX's Sunday night lineup... Am I the only one who thinks Malcolm in the Middle has hit a new stride? This season has been down right hilarious!!!! The story lines are just as fresh and comical as the beginning. The bit with Lois and the polaroids and porno was awesome! With AD, Sunday night's were my favorite. Please come back AD!!!!
I've been watching every now and then, and I agree. It seems like the show got too dramatic at times in previous seasons.
wow, 25 million watched desperate housewives and 18 million watched "grey's anatomy?" i had no idea sunday shows got that much. and the simpsons still getting 11.1 at episode 350 and counting. pretty amazing.
I actually thought last weeks was better (the premiere). I can't believe I actually watched 1hr 30min of tv last night.
Too bad American Dad is sucking balls, it has potential, but the jokes just fall flat, and a lot of the political references are not funny and they go over the head of the viewers. I don't think i'll be watching it anymore. bring back Futurama and I might actually watch more than half an hour of tv on sunday.
Two D's and an F. I still laugh when I think about that line. I was a latecomer to Family Guy, and only got into it after watching the DVD set. I'm so glad I finally was shown the light.
The last 2 Family Guys has been rather mediocre. They seem to rely on fast-hitting jokes rather than very creative jokes. There were some very funny moments like when Stewie pretended to be the dead guy, but overall it was an average show (relative to the other Family Guy episodes).
