That statement alone should kill any credit this guy has as having sports knowledge.

The Astrodome was a pitcher friendly park and Bell did hit there in the late 1990s.

I dont get why he's a dope....the Astrodome has always been known as a pitcher-friendly park. Look it up. I think it had the least HRs of any park in the NL or something.

haha, i couldn't for the life of me figure out what was wrong with saying the dome was a pitcher friendly park... good thing y'all were just confused.

I'll always remember deshaies' comment on DB and operation shutdown.... "Derek is the perfect pirate, he's stealing money and he lives on a boat"

I remember when we did Astroline over at the bar one of the head guys for the Astros was talking to me about Derek bell and how they used the same bank and he would remember him going in there to get cashiers checks to buy a 250K car cash numerous times.

Man they really need some good money management and life management classes for young people that come up and make that kind of money.

Operation Shutdown was one of the single most effective Operation ever undertaken by any person or organization. It was pure brilliance.

damn. i still remember as a kid when they played a joke on Dd in the early 90s when they supposedly auctioned off his car for charity. I also remember him rockin the biggest gold chains in baseball.

What's that 13 Mil after taxes, 10 Mil after agents and other expenses that comes with being a ball player? Over the last 20 years, he was spending about $500K a year. Nothing to scoff at, but the thing that gets me when comparing athletes to say an executive at a fortune 500 company is that once they make their money, that's the end of it. They can't go out and get another job that pays in nearly the same ball park. Plus, they have all the fame and the baggage that comes around with that (gold diggers, ambulance chasers and others wanting to take advantage of them).

are you justifying why he's broke or explaining it? certainly with even a hint of common sense he could have lived very well with that money without working another day in his life.
