So some friends and I want to go fishing in Galveston before the summer is up. Problem is...we don't have any fishing gear. Do most tackle shops have rod and reel rentals?

C'mon guys. I don't go fishing often enough to need to buy a pole...plus I'm moving to Dallas for work next week so I probably won't be fishing for some time after this weekend.

This is all you really need

    pole
    hooks
    leads
    weights
    knife or scissors
work glove to hold the fish while you remove the hooks
    bucket
aerator (if you use live bait)
    liquor or beer
    nuts
    license

often you can buy a cheap pole for 15 bucks at walmart. Piers often charge 10 dollars for a pole rental.

Problem is all the piers are destroyed... just buy one. If it happens to "break" in your trip Academy and Walmart take them back with no questions asked.

Try Galveston Party Boats Inc...they do fishing boat trips for cheap ($25 i think?) and provide you with a pole and bait.
